If Canada was in the same position you outlined I'd just do what I always do and say whatever the authority figure of the day seemed to want to hear and then try to move .
My father told me a long time ago that Dr's lawyers insurance agents and other so called profesionals are like small children .
You wouldn't say somthing that would upset a small child would you ? No that would be wrong - so don't say anything that would upset the above list(s) either - that is just as wrong as scaring little children -

Well, I would have no problem taking the cross and playing make-believe. Martyrdom is not glorified to me. I already lead a more moral life than many christians I know so that would be no problem either. As for knowing the bible and being able to blend in.....oh you betcha. But there would be some undergroung movement that I would join and probably get killed in some shoot out.
But you are really asking would I die for my beliefs....no. Would I die for my principles....yes.

I'd let them put their symbol on me, what do I care. We do it with clothes, I wear the occasional Nike shirt but I don't "believe" in Nike in the sense that they are the one and only path or anything like that. Pretending to be christian just to live wouldn't be that bad, so you'd be a little bored on Sunday mornings. big deal.
Let them brand us, we can all get together and not worship, like the Christians use to have to do for their worship.
Just because you have their markings doesn't make you one of them.
being killed for non-belief is not the way I would want to go, now if they took away a real freedom (one that you can't fake) I would die for that freedom.

I'm just thankful to have my two sons in my life. Theocracy sure sounds a lot like Communism, and of course we all know what has happened with Communism. Theocracy would also fail as it does daily. There's nothing like being a free thinker.

In short -- yes. I would take up arms against my government because it would no longer be my government, and I would kill any who try to remove my freedoms and my right to pursue life, liberty, and happiness.
Freedom is more important than life. Better a billion die than one should have his freedoms infringed.

As I understand it the Atheist's view is this whole thing is just a cosmic accident without purpose, there's nothing going to happen after you die.
If this is true. Why continue living? What's the point? Why not just kill yourself and get it over with? After all you aren't going to leave this mortal coil alive anyway.
