When i got to the neighborhood center they told me they were out of the pantry. This is a small town.. very very small town. Since then I have been at teh center many times and each time they don't have anything to help me. I am getting the hint that they do have some but will only help certain people. Since I am an outsider just moving here then I am not included. They said I don't qualify I don't make enough. When I make more they say that I make too much. This is considered prejudice am I correct?

barely. I have a family to feed. The people that are getting help don't need any HELP. They work at banks, known to be wealthy. But I am not elgible when i need it once? They get assistance once a week!

How have you been surviving all this time that you have been turned down by them?

Yes something is not right there. Do you live in the United States? Because if so then you should contact the town council and make a complaint. A food pantry should never say you dont make enough to get help. You should get help until you make too much. Next time you go tell them you need their refusal to help you in writing. If you still need some help at this time you should apply for food stamps you paid taxes all these years and helped others now its your turn. You can usually get the food stamps in 24 to 48 hours.

If you don't have money for food, it's unlikely you can afford a lawyer. It's a lousy route to go anyway. Especially in a small town.

Next thing to ask yourself is: does your small town have a church?
The answer is implicit in the question.

Apologies if this seems glib (it's not intended to) but if none of these suits you, you might consider moving to another - slightly larger - town.

There are churches in most city. Contact one of the churches. They may have a similar program or help you cut through the red tape at the food pantry.

Good luck

It took my wife 3 years to get her disability. We were barely surviving but all the state places said we couldn't get help unless I made less than $600. per month. We lost our home and barely kept our car with help from our families. It's very frustrating to try and get help yet those who don't try to help themselves seem to get it easily. Try a church in your area, they may be able to help you.

Go to your local church, they will help you or at least refer you to someone who can. Good Luck!
