As long as the man-made mythological concept of a "god" has been around, there have been people sayin "uh..... that just doesn't make sense". Good for them!

There could be... though of course back then no one would seriously say so (at least in Europe and in the Middle East).
Atheism usually comes in once overtly rational thinking came along (so at least 50 years pre-Darwin).
Either that or some time after the Enlightenment.

Why the obsession with Darwin-in reality he is of no significance to atheists or religionists.
P.S. Aye we know I get a thumbs down but seriously someone would need to explain to me the actual significance of this straw man called Darwinism.

Yes I was aware of this. Probably there have been atheists since the 'dawn of time'. Seems like a natural fit for some people.

As long as there have been Gods there have been people who did not believe in Gods...atheists.

If God hadn't made atheists [note: irony], the Christian church would have been forced to limit their torture and slaughtering to Jews and Muslims, and traveling to foreign countries to find them could be expensive. Between crusades Christians could amuse themselves with heathens closer to home.

There have always been non-believers- and there will always be.
Charles Darwin came up with a theory- not fact. And the fact is that species do evolve- just not into other species.
People- although some it seems never do- evolve also. No one is denying the existence of evolution- just that we are created- not evolved from : mud, ooze, monkeys, space protons, etc....

There have been concieted humans for a lot longer than that. What puzzles me is how human can look into the night sky and think they are as good as it gets. That there is nothing more intelligent or more capable than they are.

From what my husband told me atheists have been around since christianity became popular, but not before christianity were there atheists.
