I ran my first marathon on October 1, 2006. I am not a fast runner and use a run/walk approach. My legs are feeling better already and I am back running this week. My marathon time was 5:20 and I really liked training for a goal. I would like to run another mid-January.

Everybody is different and you'll have to be a judge for yourself, but generally if you completed one marathon they recommend you do not attempt to do another for 3 months.

However, since you walked a good portion and it sounds like you are recovering fairly quickly, you should be good to go in January. I'd be worried if you were aiming for one in November or December.

Good work and good luck.

Actually there should be a span of 3 months if your doing the long runs, 5+ hours, don't rush it start a slow training first, good luck!
