No. Atheism does not require Evolution, and Evolution does not require Charles Darwin. Other people at that time were thinking about these issues, including a man named Thomas Huxley.
These ideas would have devoloped, all Darwin did anyhow was think about these ideas from something he read in an economics article and what he saw with his eyes in nature.
Evolution and the process of natural selection would have been developed anyway,
The reality is there is no God anyway so there has always existed Atheism and good rational people to be Atheists.
You are free in your mind to believe what you want, whoever is reading this answer, don't believe in Evolution or believe in God or whatever,
I'm just stateing my view if you disagree with me thats cool I don't want no fight.

Charles Darwin was and still is one of the most respected naturist of all time he did not write it because of religion he did it for biology & for the scientific theory that natural selection is the mechanism by which such change occurs,so get you facts in line at no time does he ever talk about religion in the origin of species

Wasn't Darwin a Christian? If you actually read between the lines evolution actually proves that God exists. WHY is it that there isnt a link between humans and anything else? Both sides give history but there isnt anything to connect the two. That right there should be a sign.

just thought I'd throw that in.
moving along, who said that the origin disproves any particular religion?

wrong, part of being an atheist is being able to think for yourself. I don't need Darwin to tell me what I know is true, that no matter how this screwed up world came to be, there is no god. Not all of us are obsessed with evolution. Just knowing that I control my life and am responsible alone for my actions and my accomplishments is enough for me. No god is up there making things happen for me, I am doing it myself.

Darwin had no influence of me being a Christian. On his own death bed, he found himself starting to burn as he died, and know all of his teachings were false.

No way. There would still be many, many skeptics.
Carol: The "Darwin recanted on his deathbed" story is a myth.
