I'm not too sure what you mean by "play acting." If you mean acting like the kids or you are doing the deed then heck yeah it's illegal! Just handle sex-ed like they do in public schools. Let both boys and girls learn the same thing. About pregnancy, menstruation, functions of sexual organs, STDs, and abuse. If you want to teach birth control that is up to you. My school taught it...but depending on your beliefs I'm not too sure what you would want. Below are books that may help with your studies. Best of luck.
--I'd stay away from "play acting" whether it's innocent or not. It's just not nessacary.--

I don't think play acting is appropriate, I would talk to someone at the school in your area because I thought the schools give material to use for home schooling.

you can't be serious!you should've thought about different subjects, like this one before you even started homeschooling.
play acting should be out of the question even if you were going
to use the realistaic dolls that some people use,for other things
that they're need for..go to your public library,or to any kind of school system public or not,and see what they've got to say,you
can talk with the sex-ed teacher at the school, maybe the sex-ed teacher might even help you out and come to your home and teach it for you.because boys and girls should be with each other when learning abot all the sex-ed stuff, all of it,and the sex-ed teacher would know when the boys and girls should not be together,on some of the stuff,or if they've got questions on it,and they don't want to ask if front of each other, anotherthing is you could have them write down the questions they've got in mind to ask,and put them inside something and have them get mixd up and take one out and you read it out loud and try your best at answering it..we did that back when i was in school.
you can also check some of your bookstores go online under sex-ed,and see what that comes up with.you should beable to get books and sex educatiol videos and all that you need to teach
them, from most antplace, maybe even ask some of the rated xxx,stores,(adult-stores only)and see what they've got to say.
they may have some stuff there and they may tell you where the
best place to go,or even say go take things out from your local,
public library, someone there will point you in the correct area
or a privte area in the library to go look at that stuff at.some librarys will let you preview the videos before you take them out..
anyway you go about it good luck, and try to remember when you go to teach this the kids may giggle make fun,say things at the
start but if you let them know your serious about teaching it,and answer any question they may have and that they need to listen
up,because they may have a test on what they've learned and all that, they'll stop..and they be thinking.they may even say how cool is this we don't need to learn about it on the streets,or when we get older and it may be to let..do what you want and good luck, and god be with you..

I guess it depends on what kinda play acting you use. I would see if there are any teacher conventions at the school you can get involved with. Teachers ushually do them once a month and you can see what material you can find on how to teach it.
Good lUck

Ummmm.....ever hear of a "frank discussion"?
1) why would anyone "playact" anything in teaching a child old enough to learn sex ed?
2) if the kid is young enough to learn by "play acting", they aren't old enough for sex ed.

It doesn't sound appropriate. There are plenty of books you can get for your kids to help explain it. Use the correct terms and just talk about how special it is.

"Play acting"!!! are you kidding? Do you think that would be appropriate at a school? Just talk to them about it. Send your kids to school, they need better role models.
