Wellbutrin (which is available in a generic form that would save you some money) is actually known to cause weight loss. (just a few pounds when you start to take them.) It is a different class of medication from the standard Prozac and Paxil, and it does not have those nasty side effects of weight gain or loss of sex drive.

Hi, I have been on Lexapro for 2 years and zoloft previously for 3 years and have gained about 3 stone in weight...quite a few people experience weight gain due to the slow down in metabolic rate from the drug, however, people who are depressed sometimes comfort eat which inevitably puts on the pounds - my advice is to take the lowest dose (with doctors permission) and excercise at least 3 times a week - you should be fine..

Most anti-depressants cause u to gain weight because there is something they contain to help a person with their appetite since so many lose their appetites when severely depressed.
What u can do is start getting out more and doing so form of exercise and u will want to once u start feeling better. Keep on hand ur fav low cal snacks when the munchies hit.

Wellbutrin will not cause weight gain. It actually promotes weight loss. It is often prescribed to people trying to quit smoking so that they have an easier time and do not put on the pounds.

Indeedy, ask your doctor about Lexapro, I use it, and I haven't gained any weight, in fact, because it relieved my depression, I feel better and move more, so I have dropped a few. Another good thing about Lexapro is it has very few side effects. Good luck
