The trouble with all this freedom we enjoy is it has made us fat lazy Christians in the US who don't bother to learn and grow from fellowshipping with other Christians.

Careful about the generalizations, they can get one in trouble easily.
In life, I have noticed in several ways, foreigners come to the USA, and make a financial life for themself and their family, possibly not even speaking English well. Yet, many people born and raised here (speaking English reasonably well) struggle.
I found it interesting that the educational dollars spent per student in the US is high, yet the US was about 25th (?) in a measure of intelligence of students. Could the difference be teaching knowledge not discernment? So why not believe Argentinians defend their faith better than Americans presently on Y q/A?

It is a sad state of affairs in the Christian church in America, today
1 Peter 3:15
But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect
As Christians, we are instructed to be able to defend our faith. But this takes work and study. We are so tied up in our daily lives that we do not give ourselves to the Word and prayer nearly as much as we should.
In a nut shell, we have become complacent. This is much of why our society is in it's current state.

Because the western world has a mind set that if you go to church you are a christian.So these christians think they dont have to read the bible. we need to wake up to ourselves
