A pointless exercise, as by the time you've got to Heathrow, checked in about two hours beforehand for a 40 minute flight, you'd probably find the plane is delayed and then you'd still have to wait at the other end for your luggage to come out of the hold. By the time you've messed around doing all that you could have driven most of the way yourself or gone by train. Travel within England by air is pretty pointless, especially with all the extra security checks these days. The only time I would fly within the UK is between the mainland and Northern Ireland or to the Highlands and Islands of Scotland.
