Hey Ravi,
First site:
Take a paper and place the fresh flowers on it and cover with them another paper. Then iron it on top with an iron box. Your dried flowers are ready. Apply glue on the dried flowers with a brush and stick them on the thermocol sheet aesthetically to form a nice design. Make two holes on the top of the tray. Pass a thick thread through the hole and make a loop and hang it on the wall.
Second Site:
The things you need:
1. An old broomstick
2. Adhesive
3. Blade
4. Thermocol sheet
5. Black chart paper
6. Scissors
7. Pencil, eraser, ruler and sharpener
Step 1: Stick the black chart paper on the thermocol sheet.
Step 2: Draw an object or a landscape.
Step 3: Slit the end of the broomsticks. Cut them into desired lengths and paste them on the picture, close to each other. See the lovely golden, ripple-like effect you have succeeded in creating.
If you wish to paint the picture, go ahead.
------------------------------------
Neither painted on the Thermocol sheet. Several other sites also did not paint on them. Being Polystyrene, thermocol would not take well to any paints. Oil based would damage the materials, as would acrylic. Spray enamel would damage it too.
I found the last site has paint for polystyrene that will not damage. Here is an exerp:
It's very important to use only water-based paints and glue for polystyrene, as solvent-based products can make it melt. Citadel Colour paints (the ones in pots) are perfectly safe, but not the sprays. Use only PVA glue: superglue and liquid poly will make the polystyrene melt! So how do you paint large areas of expanded polystyrene? To get around the problem at the Studio, we coat large models with textured masonry paint before undercoating with spray paint. The masonry paint covers and seals the polystyrene, so it doesn't melt when it's sprayed. The grainy texture of the masonry paint gives a realistic texture to the model's surface too.
