I believe he was conscripted into the German army during the war so not necessarily, but I also heard he joined one of those Hitler Youth brigades (well they were voluntary weren't they?). I'm sure theres a good bio of the Pope on the Web religion is huge out there!!!!!

Why are we still judging people for their formative years?
The man had a choice, Hitler's Youth or Hitler's Youth...it's not like he joined the Nazi party!!!!

Of course he was a Nazi. Don't let him tell you otherwise. It's a sick world out there, and even the Pope is part of it.

this was like an enlistment and doesnt make any of them nazis... this isnt to say that some of them didnt think they were

No, he was a member of the Hitler youth (which was required of all young men)
The Nazis were a political party of which he was not a member.

My father was a Belgian and hated the Germans to his dying day,but even he admitted that in the war some German ppl helped him escape from a pow camp so please don't class ppl by race,even better don't classify ppl you have never met at all.

he was in the Hitler youth but all young people had to be in it they brainwashed them to report parents and family for antiestablishment thoughts and idea`s or helping Jews and other undesirables
