Physically- probably no- it's a hormonal thing. Emotionally- I would say yes. There are a great deal of stressors involved with bringing a child into your life, whether through birth or adoption. You should take care of yourself and realize that there are many facets of your life that have changed. It is o.k. to feel down because the joy involved after adjusting is the best part.

You can't get post- partum as that is a function of your hormones after birth but any major changein your life can open the door for deppression. Often the hormonally started deppression is aggravated by thoughts of not being good enough and having such a huge responsibility. You are having the same responsibility with as little preparation as any new mother and you don't even have all the helpful hormones that make mothering somewhat instinctual. Don't worry not everyone gets those hormones when they give birth either and some don't trust them so they may as well not have them. Aaaand... sometimes living the lifestyle will cause the body to produce hormones it isn't ordinarily producing so you could have help on the way from your own body. In the mean time reassure your self that as long as your new bundle is being fed and changed you have awhile to figure out the rest. A crying baby is a healthy baby and they aren't always going to be happy. You'll do fine all it takes is love.

Um, no. That's all hormonal with actually carrying a child inside of you for 9 months.

There is a new member in the family, that is a big change in your life, more responsibilities, your husband and relatives attention is not only for you, it could make a change in yourself but not depression. Good luck, and congratulations I admire people that can give love and share what they have with others.
