Ive taken Restorill and Lunesta. The Lunesta worked liked a charm. The restorill worked good for a short time. Ive tried natural remedys as welll as herbal .....they just didnt work. Melatonin didnt work at all for me I was left staring at the clock like always. Tylonel PM doesnt work because Im used to taking benedryll for my allergies.
Ive tried regual work outs early in the day ..routine...yoga....relaxation...white noise.....no caffine... sugar or high fat foods close to bed time (3-4 hours) this didnt work.
Lunesta was the best out of all the things ive tried I went to bed right after I took the 3 mg pill. Within 10 minutes I started yawning. Then within 15 minutes my eyes were drooping I knew I had taken a pill but it wasnt scary or anything it felt like natural sleep coming on. 20 minutes later I was out cold I woke up on my own just shy of 8 hours I felt good didnt feel hungover I felt alert and very very refreshed.

I use the safest thing to help me sleep & is an herb.
Dateline had a story on this several years ago & I bought it.The name is Melatonin, (3 mg) it is taken 30 minutes before you go to bed. It has no side effects, is found in herb & vitamin section at Walmart,Kmart,& the Dollar Stores, I use Rexall brand from Walmart or Dollar General, $3.00 for 60 tablets. When I awake next morning, no effects of a drug because it isn't. It turns off your biological "lights" and lets you go to sleep softly & soundly.
To research it type in Melatonin in you search bar & read about it.

I'm not a good sleeper never have been even when I was little, I did start taking sleeping tables but before I knew it my body was used to them and I was tossing and turning all night again, so now I don't worry I get by on about 4 maybe 5 hours sleep a night if I'm lucky, its annoying I know but I have tried heaps and heaps of different things but none work or not for long. I have heard about these white noise machines that makes all different soft sounds, but i have not been able to find one to buy.

My husband, who is rather ill, complains that he sleeps poorly, and is up and down, in and out of bed around the clock. The poor man is always needing something, as he can't do very much for himself (such as get a glass of water, or clean himself on the toilet).
I'll bet you're thinking he got a sleep medication...but, you're wrong!
When you add it all up, he sleeps about 17 hours a day; the doctor gave me two weeks of Ambien so that *I* could get some sleep!
I wish the doctor had let me have another week of Ambien, because it was wonderful...blissful, natural-feeling sleep!
P.S. I had a private duty nurse come in to see to it that my husband wasn't neglected while I slept!

Before going to bed don't have coffee, tea, cigarettes. Prepare urself for a good sleep. Imagine something very beautiful incidence. Take 5-6 deep breaths. Count from 100 to 1(reverse). Think that u r going to get a good sleep. Thats it. Don't go for medicines.

I like Ambien a lot. I get the deep restful sleep without feeling groggy when I wake up. Doctors only want to give it for a week or so and no longer as it can be habit forming.

Don't have foods rich in fat and sugars at least two hours before sleeping, don't have cigarettes, tea, coffee before sleeping. Don't watch TV in order to fall asleep; read books or newspapers instead; make a pleasant, nice place for sleep. Some foods like yogurt or yogurt drink are great.

I work at night and sleep during the day, so sometimes I have to take somthing to sleep, but I would not recommend it unless you havent slept for 2 weeks.

my nightly ritual (once my sons in bed!)
no caffine no smoke or food
hot bath with lavender oil in it
rub lavender on my temples and pillow
glass of warm milk with teaspoon of sugar in it
(my nan also has 2 panadol with the milk)
read a little of my book with makes me sleepy
if you believe in this sort of stuff a small piece of peridot under your pillow will help you have a more restful sleep and block your aura it realy works ive had sleeping problems for bout 11yrs and bad screaming nightmares and my recent anxiety was making things worse i still have some restless nights but i can honestly say that all these things have helped me alot especialy the peridot
