Stoning to death is the penalty for a man/women who fornicates after marriage, but there is a very important pre-requisite for the punishment.

Their needs to be four witnesses before that could even
happen. You can well imagine that if it happened with the consent of both the man and the woman than its impossible to produce four witnesses and therefore it remains as a matter between the fornicators and God.

On the other hand, there may be four witnesses in case of a rape and their should be a severe punishment for the rapist. That will stop people from even thinking about raping a woman in the future.

If a Muslim has sex before marriage and it is proven in an court of law that follows the Islamic Constitution, then the judge may prescribe punishment, which can be 100 whips as the maximum that can be handed down.

Now tell me why sex is so casual in your countries? Why do you have so many teen pregnancies? Why are your women asking "I'm pregnant. how much does it take to find out who is the father of my baby?"

don't beleive me? go to the Singles & Dating section.

Cheers!

Under islamic law if there are 4 witnesses then 100 stones. ( you would be dead afterwards definitely)
rarely happens though.
cut off your hands if you steal too.
cut off your head if you murder someone.
it has to be proven beyond any doubt and there has to be a lot of credible witnesses though.
does wonders for the crime rate.

the islamic law that exists in islamic states is not always the same as the teachings of islam and the Quraan itself. those are not punishments set out in the quraan. they were arbitrary numbers decided by the islamic leaders. seems to work though. the death penalty exists in non islamic states too. i dont agree with it though. you have no rights over someone elses life.

i get the whole argument about preserving the moral fibre of society but there are other ways and means.

...only if they're married they may get a stoning, otherwise some painful flogging is performed. Also remeber these harsh punishment are mostly done in really poor muslim societies, such as the countryside. Please note that most muslims are normal indviduals and impose stoning and flogging.

Mutaminna's answer is very right. I'm sad many Muslims dont know the teaching of their Religion very well and just prattle on about anything.

if he/she is not being stone, the punishment in hell would be much much much much greater beyond our comprehension.

But still God is above merciful, if he/she were ignorant of the law, what they can do is really repent and do Taubah prayer regularly so that their repetance is accepted by God.

Wallahu'alam
