wow lots of nice answers.....well after embalming you, the hair and nails do grow to a point, as far as the body decomposing I've seen it after a year and it looked more like a mummy, it hadn't decomposed to the point of skeleton's, maybe back in the old days when we were put in wooden coffins, the body's went back to the earth, but now with embalming fluid the body is preserved and the concrete vault makes an airtight seal, there-fore delaying the decomposition process...hope this helps...

The more religious ones would answer that when we die our bodies become the material we where made initially. But I think we just decompose, becoming food for worms :D. Well, that my opinion

Eventually you just become a skeleton - an interesting fact though - when you die - your hair and nails keep growing whilst your body starts to decompose

The material part becomes atoms again to be rebuilt into another form by nature. Your soul moves into a new form too and you begin another cycle of life with a deeper consciousness (if you have paid attention in this life).

Our bodies decompose with time, even embalming fluid won't prevent that and then after the body has decomposed, all we're left with is our skeletal remains.

We don't need our body when we die, our soul, spirit live's on.

Fertilizer.... unless you're embalmed. Preservation of dead flesh seems to make death rather useless. I would rather become fertilizer or be introduced back into the food chain. Morticians have a real scam going.

A corpse. A collection of tissues and bones that gradually decomposes into bones and dust through bacterial action.

your body is made up of 98% water so that should give you an idea of what happens there it disintegrates and the rest turns back into earth looking material.

It first remains a lifeless corpse.
Then it emits a foul smell.
Then after a few days, it decays with the help of bacterium
and finally, after a few months, only the skeleton remains....
