Excellent Question.
Most people want their children to believe in Santa Claus, because ONE its a way to manipulate the child to be good all year, (or close to Decemeber) which if you break that reason down farther, that could be a result of bad parenting or plain laziness. But the other reason is so much deeper than that, the Idea of a "fantasy world" of a Jolly OLD Fellow with a Toy Factory in the North Pole and Mrs Claus and a bunch of elves making toys is away to keep the child away from the real world as much as one can. A way to inforce a fake reality to a child if looked at it in a different view could obstruct the childs veiwing of life as being easy or easy to trust people. Theres different ways to look at this on going tradition all over the world. In a way I agree with the want to see yuour childs face on Christmas morning when he/she opens the toys that Santa gave, but this giving and recieving season also teaches the child to open their hearts and give, and see others happy.
The other reason why people try so hard to Prove SANTA is real is because Christmas is a big business season. Businesses make tons of money during this time of year, so of course businesses will promote commericials featuring the big man in the red suit, to inprove sales.
And that is why people prove that Santa Claus is real!

The reason to believe in Santa Claus is because of the good feelings the season seems to produce. We want to give gifts to ppl, have parties together, sing songs, watch special programs together, dress cheerfully, volunteer services to the less fortunate, have special meals, gather as families some from great distances, send out greeting cards to just remember others, etc, etc, etc. It is a happier time of the year with more inner peace than most ppl get combined in the rest of the year. Why wouldn't we want to believe in that innocence of wonder and awe when we anticipate something special and exciting. Why wouldn't we want to believe in a jolly old man who works all year round just to do something for other ppl. We want something that we don't have, a determined time for joy. Why do you want to spoil it. Is truth of the myth more important than everything else? The world will be a much unhappier place if someone out there doesn't believe or doesn't help others believe. There is magic in those days of Christmas and it brings us peace if only for a moment.

Have an extremely Merry Christmas and a happy happy New year superb of needs To You in this trip season.?

And they say drugs can make you delusional...
When you send a letter to the North Pole, you usually receive at least some of the things you ask for.
When you wake up you find the cookies and milk are gone.
Your parents tell you Santa exists.
Culture tells you Santa exists.
Your friends tell you their parents told them that Santa exists.
...
That and Christmas has sold-out to being commercialized. It's just a way for stores to make a lot of sales.

Santa is the spirit of Christmas. He represents the spirit of family fun and the joy of giving and receiving.
But the true Spirit of Christmas the fulfillment of the promise one the night that Jesus was born. The star is a symbol of that promise and God ALWAYS fulfills His promises.

People know the truth they just want their fairy tales. They pass them on to their children who keep the myth going.
It is fun to believe in Santa Claus if you are < 6 but as you age you grow to find it as an amusing story.
Traditions are hard to break. Just ask Columbus.

Because he is real, little Ms. Getting-Coal-in-her-Stocking. He's gone corporate and and has signed endorsement deals with a myriad of product companies. This is how he is able to finance his toy-making industry, pay the elfs (elf labor laws are strict!), and upgrade his sled.
Anyway, it's a joke just part of the christmas spirit/fun. Don't take it too seriously.
