Both!! Stop being so tight and apologise properly, or I will be visiting you with chocolates and flowers in the hospital!
Nah, only kidding. I don't think apology gifts are necessary. So long as the problem is resolved and if an apology is needed it is said. Its not what you do, it is the way you do it!

They shouldn't have to ask. Flowers seem to engender a feeling of mistrust in women. You come home late with a bunch of flowers and the first reaction is, 'So what have you done and where have you been?'
Chocolates can be a real no-no. You may not have noticed, but your better half has been struggling to lose weight and you bring her chocolates?
Try to use a bit of imagination. After an argument, how about a kiss and a cuddle? Doesn't cost much either, but it has to be genuine.

Neither...the gesture of chocolates or flowers is meant to be impulsive.... if you know what the gift is...then the suprise is ruined...in addition surely by removing the decision making somehow makes the sincerity behind the gift less...However, if and indeed it sound like the question has already been asked.....ask for both!....if your partner has a brain they will get you cadbury's roses...flowers and chocolates in one LOL

Neither. Communication works best--nothing can blackmail my trust. If I know that my husband is in earnest making an effort to apologize, then let it be straight forward verbal communication. In past relationships, chocolate or flowers was usually a cheap ploy to get some...and nothing was learned, the pattern continued. If your partner is earnest, then s/he will never make the same mistake twice.

Neither last that long if its a big fight jewellery even tho a act of remorse like giving a single flower and saying sorry goes along way

I would not accept gifts for arguments. I would hope to solve arguments through compromise and mutual respect. If things got to the level of shouting and bribery I would just end things there and take away happy memories of the good times he had together.
If I was given either as a genuine gift for my birthday, christmas, ne reason etc then I would be equally happy. I love gifts and love to give presents too.
