Individual states do have laws that prohibit gambling on-line. On the federal level some have interpreted the wire act of 1961 which prohibits wager over the telephone to extend to the on-line world. This why the new law was originally call the "Wire Act Modernization" bill. Most however would agree that the 1961 law has nothing to do with playing poker on-line. The new law doesn't do anything to "criminalize" the player but prohibits US financial institutions from facilitating transactions with on-line gambling and poker sites.

According to one poll about 90% of Americans think that on-line gambling should be left alone by the federal government and I agree. About 5% said that it doesn't matter what laws they pass people will gamble on-line anyway.

Titan Poker no longer accepts wagers from US players, so if you are looking for a real-money game, you'll have to look elsewhere.

For US real-money players, I recommend Crazy Poker; Crazy Poker has confirmed that they are still accepting US real-money players as of this writing (read about it here: http://theonlinecasinogamblingdirectory.com/usa/crazyvegas.htm ). In addition, they are currently offering $10 free + 40% bonus on initial deposits between $20 and $100. Finally, be a part of their billionth hand promotion to be eligible to win cash, prizes, and special freeroll tournament entries when you play at their poker room. Sign up here: http://www.crazypoker.com/index.asp?btag=AfBtag959706001

If Crazy Poker is not to your liking, The Online Casino Gambling Directory currently lists over 90 online poker rooms (http://theonlinecasinogamblingdirectory.com/s.php?t=Poker&SRC=YahooAnswers ), approximately 40 of which have confirmed that they continue to accept US real-money players (http://theonlinecasinogamblingdirectory.com/s.php?t=Poker&as_usa=1&SRC=YahooAnswers ).

Best of luck!
Robert

Titan are one of the crappy companies that have turned their back on America. Of course with our stupid government interfering with crap like this, it is little surprise.

Other companies like Party Poker, 888.com, Pacific poker have also walked away.

However there are plenty more who are standing firm. The new laws do not make it illegal for you to play for money, you just need to use Neteller (or similar) to deposit or withdraw your funds.

The link is to a list of sites that still allow American players. It is not illegal to play for cash, the new law does nothing to change that. The only reason some companies are getting out of the American market is because they are worried that management of those companies will be arrested if they visit America. The new law is pretty strict about OPERATING these companies, not playing at them.

Not if you live in the USA. On line gambling is now against the law and the banks (not the site) will no longer do business with and online gambling sites. You may be able to find a few sites still working inside the USA but prepare to be audited by the IRS next year if you do use them...

It isn't outlawed but a few sites are jumping the gun and banning US players. If you want to keep playing use this list, it lists what sites accept US players and which don't and sign up deals you can get on them. http://www.ultimatepokerbankroll.com/article.php/internet-gambling-ban-poker-sites-status
