I would like to ask our American cousins how to cope with this stigma. After all they have been the most obese people in the world for a very long time now!

It isn't necessarily a bad thing, it depends on how many Brits are actually obese. If it were only 15% and that was the highest amount out of all of Europe, it's still very good. If you are the most obese by a large amount, then oh well.

Don't fret. The French are gaining too much weight also. In the last 20 years, I have never seen so many fat French people than I did a couple of years ago.

Why are you ashamed? You're not wearing other people's obesity on your forehead. Just b/c we're from the same country as our countrymen doesn't make us responsible for their weight.
