If you want to have both Windows XP and Windows 2000 running on you computer, you will have to start by either having two physical hard drives in your computer, or by dividing your current hard drive into two partitions. You can divide a single hard drive into two partitions using the XP CD.

Boot the computer with the XP CD in the drive. Let the Windows set up start. After you do the F8 to agree, you will be asking about creating and formating partitions. If you have one hard drive, create a partition (normally using half the hard drive) and format it NTFS. Install XP into the partition. If you have two hard drives, format the first hard drive with NTFS and install XP on it.

Once done, go into WIndows XP, and use the Control Panel > Adminstrative Tools > Computer Management > Disk Management to format either the second partition or the second hard drive (NTFS).

Reboot the PC with the Windows 2000 CD in it. Let it start the set up. When you get to the part about partitions and formating, select either the second partiton or the second hard drive as the place to install Windows 2000.

Once both versions of Windows have been installed, you will be greeted with a menu that allows you to select a version of Windows whenever you boot up the PC.
