Breakfast is breakfast because you are breaking the fast,
The body need refuelling it helps you re -energise your body, because you skip it your body is being starved of all the healthy goodness it so needs after you have been sleeping for several hour
You don't have to make a big thing out of breakfast fruit, etc would give your body that energy that it need until lunch.
Try to start the day with a little of something you really will benefit from it you will have more energy, trust me anything is better than nothing.
Have breakfast tomorrow !!!!
I like you enjoy Dinner with family, friends good food and a glass of wine and it is sociable BUT you can still have that plus breakfast.
Take care

I think dinner (or 'tea') is considered the main/best meal of the day usually because indeed it's more sociable. There was traditionally time in the evening to sit as a family, and for a housewife to prepare a meal for the family.
Given the occasion and the time allowed, a grander affair could be made, which allows for more food, more variety, more flavours and more anticipation.
In contrast, breakfast is often eaten hastily in the morning prior to work, and out of synchronisation with other family members. There's barely any time to prepare food, which is why it's easier straight out of a box into a bowl, and there's little time to sit and enjoy other people's company.
However - breakfast is the best meal of the day nutritionally. Or at least it should be. The body and metabolism need to be regulated in a logical order. This means, eat at the beginning of the day the required energy and vitamins are required to prepare the body for the day ahead. A vast feast eaten in the evening isn't used by the body, but stored as fat when we sleep.
So yes and no. Breakfast is nutritionally very important, or 'best'. But I agree with the traditions of a family meal in the evening for the reasons you outlined.

over here in our country breakfast is the most important meal and the heaviest of all meals. becoz people are going to have a long day and to work too so lots of nergy and oxygen needed. But like you i prefer dinner becoz meals are better planned and the dishes i find more yummy. and yes, sociable to coz its where family or friends get to table longer and more relaxed.

Normally I would say yes. Breakfast for me used to be the best meal of the day - the tastiest and most nutritionally important. Now that I'm pregnant I struggle to keep a piece of toast down in the morning so breakfast definitely isn't the best meal of the day any more.

I prefer brunch because I just have coffee in the early mornings. I am not very hungry at that time and don't feel like being sociable that early. By noon I am ready to enjoy a good meal and good company.

Sorry to disagree with you all, but I LOVE breakfast! Even if I am eating alone I always make it a big deal. The variety of food and flavours you can have for breakfast is so huge, and all of it is so good! Plus at breakfast time you can allow yourself to indulge (even to overindulge now and then!) a bit since you've got the whole day to burn off the calories and fat if you need it!
Seriously, there isn't much in day-to-day life that compares with a plate of smoked salmon eggs benedict with home-fries and fresh fruit, with a big mug of fresh hot coffee, now is there?
Honestly, a good, hearty, delicious breakfast, followed by a nice brisk walk with the dog is about the nicest way to start off the day that I can think of!
PS: I'm pregnant too, and now it's even more important since if I don't start my day off with food in the tummy RIGHT AWAY, then I get sick and stay feeling ill all day long. One more vote for breakfast!

Dinners the best meal of the day because you can relax at home whilst eating with your family, unlike with breakfast where you often have to rush to get to work. And plus dinner time food is more delicious.

I love breakfast. A proper one! Sausages, bacon, egg, hash browns, toast, friut juice, coffee. Or pancakes/french toast and maple syrup. Lush!
I rarely eat breakfast though. Never have much of an appetite in the morning.
I have to agree, dinner is much more sociable though.

Oh yes, the most important. You have to try to eat breakfast, your whole body will feel better for being fed early in the day. My granny's old saying was:
Eat like a king for breakfast, a prince for lunch and a pauper for dinner. Eat less in the hours before you go to bed.

Well that's up to you. It can be.
If it's the social aspect you're after, invite some friends round to share.
Here's an idea. Have a multi-cultural breakfast party. Invite friends and get them to prepare a breakfast food that is regularly eaten by by people from their culture.
Fun?
Breakfast is certainly important though. Boosts your metabolism for the day and staves off the mid-morning slump you get with low blood sugar.
