ibuprofen works great for toothaches. take 200-400mg every 6 hours as needed but no more than 1200mg in 24 hours.
gargle and swish with salt water after eating anything (2 tsp of salt to 8 oz of water) this will help flush out germs and bacteria. make sure to brush and floss after each meal.
talk to a local dentist office about getting free healthcare and dental care through the state you live in. every state is required to provide free insurance to people who qualify as low income and cannot afford it. you can also call the local hospital in your area and ask for the social workers office-they should have all the information you need to find out how to apply for the free healthcare

The only way I know of garanteed to work permanently is to have it pulled. If it's been hurting that long it's probly not worth tryin to save anyway so just get rid of it. You'll be better off in the long run. Call around & find a dentist that will take payments if you can't afford to pay for having it pulled out all at once.

If it's torturing you for 5 months, you might as well extract that tooth of yours. The ancient method is to tie the tooth to a string and attach it to a door and swing it open. (I'm just kidding, this method is very dangerous and can cause excessive bleeding)
Please seek professional dental treatment. It's for your own good.
Meanwhile, some ice will help.

The only way to get rid of your toothache permanently is to have the tooth extracted. It will only get worse as I'm sure you know. There are things you can take to ease the discomfort, but these things will only be a temporary fix. You really need to get in to see a dentist. Good luck!

Oh so been there! Pain Killers at night I try and think it'sbetter and the pain numbs a bit. There are somme tablets you can get from health food shop for tooache but if you pay for that might as welll pay $100 and get it pulled. Also try ice pak to your face when it's real bad.

Since a dentist isn't an opinion for you I would recommend gargling with warm salt water or a mixture of peroxide and water numerous times a day this will help with pain management and will also help with infection.

You are in grave danger of the condition turning from simple toothache to blood-poison from diseased gums. I would ask my local Health authority what to do in the circumstances or present yourself at the Emergency of your local hospital. You cannot let this condition grow worse as it could lead to abscesses in your jawbone.
