There is absolutely nothing wrong with having your hair permed during your periods. And, there is nothing wrong with asking such a question either.
It's an old wives' tail that you should not do several things during the menstrual cycle. But, we still tend to be cautious, and being cautious IS a good thing.
Once, when I was going for my first laser treatment, I was having my periods. So, I called the clinic and asked whether it's OK, and the assistant was like, "Where do you want to have the treatment?", and I said, "The face," and she was like, "Well, yeah, you could come for the treatment....as long as you don't expect to be lasered 'down there'!"
It was embarrasing...I'm so glad I asked the question over the phone.

Once your hair is visible above the skin on your head, it is essentially dead. Therefore nothing like being on your period or anything you eat etc... will affect the hair that is already grown.

If the perm didn't work, it is because the stylists didn't use the correct heat setting. Essentially when you get your hair permed you are setting your hair into a different configuration using heat.

You don't actually melt your hair when doing it, but think of it like heating up some metal to melt it, and then when it's cooled, it will "set" in the new position.

Pregnancy will only affect the process if the pregnancy has affected your hair.If since being pregnant you have experienced snapping or hair loss, you should consider waiting to have any chemical process until after the birth and your hair returns to normal.Periods and birth control have no effect whatsoever!!!!!!!Always do tests as described on the box(if you are having a home perm or ask the stylist at the salon)to do the tests they are trained to do,24-48 hrs prior to the treatment.

No, but if u r on birth control and other medications, it will keep ur perm from taking well or also keep ur hair from highlighting well. As 4 periods, that is an old wives tale. Good Luck, Kadee

I understand your query unlike some of the idiot replies that you have had to suffer!I'm not sure if whether the change of hormones may affect the result slightly. At times of the month my hair never seems to get the same result, maybe someone may know a little more on this matter- good luck ( especially as perms cost so much!!)

Totally not true.....having you periods or being pregnet while getting a perm still works regardless.

You can do anything when it's that time of the month, just try not to use too hot of water or too cold because that causes extra cramping.

silly question , especially since you use the pill so you are out of tune with the moon ....
maybe you think the menstrum to be unholy or something ?

the question should have been
wich fase of the moon is best for ......?
that is sensible ..

No you cant get your hair permed when you have a period.
The fact that you are loosing blood stops your hair being able to curl.
Dumb as$
