I'm interested in travel as a general industry but if anyone has any information for particular sectors e.g. car hire, holidays, hotels and accommodation, flights, ferries and so forth, then I'd appreciate that too.

I'm not actually looking to book travel myself - I'm researching the travel industry and I'm after some stats or some help with where I might find them. Sorry for not being clear!

I regularly book online with P&O Ferries, Brittany Ferries and book flights.
I have never encountered any problems when booking online with any of the company’s I use and British Airways is easy to book with too, I book a flight every 6 weeks and a ferry every three months.
When booking ferries though if you have a van or car over a certain size you cant book online you have to phone the company instead.

HI. We used to do last minute holidays, before we had the kids, then since then have done 2-3 package holidays, but for the last 4 years have found it SO much easier and cheaper to book online, and seperately.. We tend to research where we want to go, and book flights up to 1 year ahead (this is cheaper then nearer the time). WE then can spend time reseaching the area, type of accomadation, food, and what we want to stay in, resorts and facilities. It gives us flexibilty to get cheap flights and then have the time to really choose where to stay. Having the time to really find out what is available is valuable!
We book the hotel through cheap websites, such as 'reserveahotelonline.com' . We have a minimum of 2 holidays a year on the same budget as we would if we booked in a travel agents for 1 holiday. AND the choice is so much better.
We reccomend this way to our friends and family and in fact, my husband is often asked to research holidays/flights/accomadation. And the they just book and pay!
Oh, and we book our transfers online too, normally in a taxi. We have also booked car hire online and this has been straight forward and easy!

We went to London and Paris last year and actually booked all of our flights and hotels online. I had a Holiday Inn Priority Rewards (I think that's the name of the frequent stayer program...)card so we booked through the Holiday Inn site to take advantage of the Rewards discounts.
We booked our flights through Virgin Atlantic and Air France's websites as well. Normally we'd go through a travel website like expedia or orbitz, but in our situation it turned out that by going to each of the carriers' websites, we were able to get a combined cheaper deal. Worked out pretty well!
We didn't rent a car in either location - since we were staying in the city for both destinations, we just took the tube everywhere in London and the Metro all over the city in Paris. It worked out REALLY well.

I used the Internet to research and book our holiday to California this year. In the end I used a company called Bon Voyage who did all the booking for us. Their website was very user friendly and I basically told them where I wanted to stay and for how long etc.
I work for a international car hire company and I would say that a lot of our bookings are via the net. Very often pre-paid rates are most competitive.

I always book my holiday online. The cheapest way (i think) is to always book things individually. I always book my flight then go direct to a hotels website to book the hotel. I have never had any problems doing it this way.
I always research my holidays online and regulary use tripadvisor.co.uk

the component is Iranians, Afghanis and such prefer to pay human beings off to smuggle them into the country (boat human beings). chinese language will use pretend passports and particularly some Asians will additionally attempt to smuggle themselves into the country by potential of boat. Boat each and every physique is extra probably to get caught out. yet are much less probably to be detected as quickly as interior the country (until eventually they wander around the docks in 3 piece suits). British and individuals who overstay can get caught out in the event that they checklist a place of place of abode. British and individuals will come to Australia legally yet will with ease overstay their visa. i did no longer understand there replaced into considered one of those component as an unlawful New Zealander in Australia. There was once a time while New Zealanders have been able to return over to Australia and after 6 months they have been Australian (no could naturalize for them). Goodness i've got self belief old asserting that. yet New Zealanders and Australians have constantly enjoyed being able to pass over to one yet another's countries without annoying too lots. Any unlawful immigant could spend a while in Villawood (deportation centre) jointly as DIAC slowly techniques their paperwork to get them deported.

The last one was the first time I've booked exclusively on interweb. I used British Airways, Trip advisor (invaluable!), and loads of tourist sites for New York.

I used Expedia.co.uk. to book my flights to South Africa every year. Expedia also does car and hotel bookings, but since I have family there I don't use those facilities. I would highly recommend it.
