Everytime I try to open Windows Media Player, it's ok sometimes but freezes after a while, especially when I try to play movies recorded with my webcam, they work but freeze and when I try alt + ctr + dlt to shut it down, it just freezes the screen and several clicks later freezes my mouse and I am forced to shut down using the power button. What is the cause of this and how can I fix it? This has always happened, on my old hard drive as well, I've scanned for spyware, adware, viruses, trojans, found none, I don't think that is the case. Winamp and Realplayer have experienced this problem as well but not Quicktime, I would use quicktime but it can't play all of my movies.

I could understand if it was working in just one program, but all three..weird.. im betting on a codec problem..

suggest you download and install some new codecs..

try the K-Lite Mega Codec Pack..

http://fileforum.betanews.com/detail/KLite_Mega_Codec_Pack/1080441198/1

If that does not work then im at a loss, could be a firewall issue because the programs are trying to connect to the internet because they cannot find the correct codec.. if so disable the option to connect to the internet in the programs or fully enable them access in your firewall. Zonealarm is known to cause a lot of problems with this. Best of luck!!!

Dear,

Download and install AVG antispyware software from www.ewido.net and update it.Run a complete scan and delete all bugs found. Then restart the system and try.
You have already scanned for spywares, adwares, trojans, virusus etc but still there will be bugs which wont be visible in your scan softwares.Thats why i prefer for this one. This will help u out.

Reinstall the player. Try using a different one. If the problem persists, you likely have bad mainboard RAM or video RAM.

I would suspect that you need more RAM. If you only have 128MB and you run Windows XP, then Get More. Visit http://www.coastmemory.com and look up your system. This will tell you what you need to expand to 512MB or more. It is fairly easy to install RAM. This company guarantees that the RAM will work.
