USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVAN-69/CVN-69), nicknamed "Ike", is the second of 10 Nimitz-class supercarriers in the United States Navy. Originally, she was named Eisenhower, much like her sister, Nimitz. On May 25, 1970, the name was lengthened to Dwight D. Eisenhower. On commissioning, Ike replaced the aged World War II-era carrier USS Franklin D. Roosevelt in the fleet.
