Hi,

Going for an operation soon but fo 2 weeks prior to my operation I cannot take pain relif that contains: asprin, nurofen, or anti inflamitory medication. Sometimes I get headaches or mild back pain so is there a brand I can take that does not contain those 3 things? Thanks!!

The reason you should avoid these products is that they can cause the blood to 'thin' meaning that you may bleed excessively during an operation. Paracetemol does not have this effect. neither do things such as ice packs/cold gel packs/ gel sticks for headaches/backaches or hot water bottles for back aches.
So you may be able to manage without the paracetemol - although admittedly the paracetemol is a lot more convenient. (Not so easy to sit on the train with a hot water bottle up your coat and a cold gel patch stuck on your forehead - although you's probably get a seat).

If you have issue with allergy or intolerance of drugs this really is not the place to be asking questions. Try your doctor where you will get accurate advice.
