i work out with 1/2 kg on each leg. is it advisable? have started working out for weight loss since 2 weeks and the the pain in the calves still persists. is that normal?

If you don't want muscle then don't do weight training. Instead, try running and you can do some cardio-vascular exercise
If you wanna be lean, run mate.Have you seen some of the Marathon runners.

Stair walking is working for my Mrs :o)
She works 33 floors up & 3 times each week walks up (lift down) 3 times & has lost over 2 inches from her thighs :o)

Try Yoga. Your probably not stretching enough with your workout routine. Yoga combines both stretching, and strength training. Its also a great way to practice meditation.
