First...I am not a medical professional of any kind.

That said. I had similar symptoms as you describe while working in Kuwait. It depends how sever the pain is in the area of your kidney and if you have any pain when you urinate.

It turned out that I had kidney stones. And in Arab countries they rarely prescribe narcotic painkillers; not even Tylenol #3...and my Kuwaiti doctor was trained in the US and was an excellent MD.

Luckily I had access to the military bases in Kuwait and Iraq (where I worked) since I was a DoD contractor. Once I brought my x-rays in I was able to get some pain relief until the stones pass. So if the pain is BAD...it might be kidney stones.

Good luck..

It sounds like a chill in the kidneys, and comes this time of years when the weather is changeable. We get hot and throw the bedclothes off leaving our kidney exposed to the cold. My mother used to be paranoid about this because I ended up with a kidney infection as a child sixty five years or so ago. When I see schoolchildren sitting on the bare ground I remember my mother's warnings not to do this. I suggest you keep your kidneys warm for several days to see if the pain leaves. If not get to your Doctor quick smart. School teachers incourage kids to sit on the ground, they should not do this..

It could be as simple as excessive gas, or a kidney infection. The point being, you need to get to a Doctor. Drink a lot of Cranberry juice, the acid will help clean out the kidneys, and water, water, water, flush your system, and seek medical attention. Take Care.
