I have a data file that is .ppt ,can you please tell me which program to download so I can read this file.

It's a Microsoft PowerPoint File.
If you don't have Microsoft PowerPoint, you can download the viewer from here:

You can also download OpenOffice from http://www.openoffice.org and try to open it in that - it should read powerpoint files as well.

Powerpoint is the program that created the file powerpoint reader comes free from Microsoft, you could probably get it from cnet also.

Try Microsoft Office PowerPoint. It is usually exists in MS office standard package.
