What you can say is - "everybody is trying to showcase what one is good at. A painter shows how well he can paint and a footballer shows how well the sport he plays and so on. so if you are beautiful you are trying to showcase that. therefore if there is no harm in being a painter or footballer, what is the big deal in beauty peagents?"

you can also say something about these beauties (at least the international ones) helping social causes which i dont believe they would but for the contest. but you can always use it as one point in your favour, coz you dont have many

I personally think that such pageants are a true insult to a woman. They also try to depict that only women with a beautiful bust line and proportionate measurements deserve to be labelled beautiful.

On the contrary, many beautiful women in our lives do not fit the mould of a beauty pageant winner. To take one example, Mother Theresa has to be one the most beautiful ladies around, in the work she does and the hearts she touch. I don't see any of your typical beauty pageant contestants having such qualities other than "world peace" message that is oh so cliche. It is also distressing to hear of the superficial attempts by so many contestants to include a lame involvement with Charity organisations just so to qualify them as a very nice person.

In short, i wish you the best of luck with your debate. I personally am a fan of debates and i can see a tough fight you're facing being on the wrong end of a Debate motion.

one of the things i would focus on would be how the judging is done: beauty, how there is a swim suit competition, how all of the constestants have to look a certain way and be a certain size, the messag ethey portray to the young girls, as well as how many beauty pageants are there to judge on the body, not on the intellect, and so forth.-as an insult

not an insult:
give young girls role models to look upo to, show the confidence needed, show the intellect through the questions answeres, as well as being a well rounded and talented person such as in the talent competitions-part of the competitions.

you always speak clearly, imagine that it is you and your coach in the room and not the judge, dress nice, show credible sources even if that means some old quote by Kant or Locke or wheoever. keep your composure, take in deep breaths, dont think of it as a competition but rather as practice-your nerves will not be going that crazy if you tell yourself that it is just a practice! take notes down as your opponent speaks and before you can ask the questions sort of have them formulated in your mind. best of luck!

Being beutiful is part of womanhood. Nobody is suggesting that women only exist to be beautiful.
It's just like sport, being good at sport ins't everyhting, but it's nice.

i think of that little ones splendor peagents are an insult to little ones, over zealist mothers abusing their little ones human rights by potential of parading them around like dressed up Barbie dolls.
