The best champagne for a celebration is the one you can JUST afford! These days with apellation control[French keeping champagne as their style] you will have to pay plenty to get authentic champagne.Try looking for a wine described as method champenoise- the same as champagne but it could be from California, Australia, South Africa. Still very good, but much cheaper. Talk to the sales person at your liquor outlet and explain what you want. If price is not a problem then only French champagne will do! Try Veuve Cliquot, Chandon, Dom Perignon vintage will be expensive,non-vintage cheaper. Try a brut, it is less sweet. With all wine, you get what pay for! Happy second anniversary!

A nice bottle of Moet & Chandon is always good, goes for about £25 a bottle, or $35 USD. Better than the cheap cheap stuff. Happy Anniversary and Good Luck!!

Have you thought about NV Moet et Chandon Nectar Imperial? It is made from Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier; the usual suspects, but nonetheless very impressive! It is a balanced champagne with prominent fruit tones, but not by any means "sweet". It is smooth, elegant and very sexy! It is reasonable too. We usually pay around $50.00 for it in Manhattan.

Depends really if you want a sweet or dry kind. Dry will usually say it on the label and the sweet kinds I have found are spumante, sure there are others but that is the ones I like.
Happy Anniversary

If you are in UK, the supermarket's own brands are usually very good value.
