He says he is being environmentally friendly - saving water, soap, towel wear etc. Can anyone suggest other ways in which the old fella could help ?

If he wants to be environmentally friendly he can take a shower in the rain with envorinmentally biodegradable soap. Same for bathing in the sea or in a dam with bio friendly soap. The microbes growing on his body is a health hazard to himself and everyone he contacts with, so kindly ask him if he thinks
being a germ bomb makes things any better for the environment. He could rather not use paper, as the making of paper is a very environmentally unfriendly. If he stops eating meat for a year, he will save the equivalent of a hectare of amazon forest (animals eat plants, we it animals, if we don't eat animals, we're not accountable for the plants they ate, saving loads of vegatation). I think is "environmentally friendly" approach is a disguise for laziness. If he is not vegetarian, there is no way that he would go to that extreme.

well, if he took a bath he'd help the environment smell a heck of alot better! What he could do is go swimming in a lake and use biodegradable soap that would not harm the environment. Then he can drip dry or sun himself on a rock until he dries. He could go plant some trees afterwards for good measure!

Wow, one way or another you Grandfather needs a bath, he must whiff a bit, bless him, why don't you suggest he goes to your house once a week and have a bath at yours, you could even say that you have had a bath before him,so that he feels you are saving water, tell him that he needs to bathe for the sake of his skin, tell him he will become sore or something, use your imagination, but you have to get him in that bath. good luck.

he isnt taking a shower!!!!! can I get an ewwww. Convince him that cutting his shower times down would help, but not taking a shower will probally just kill off the environment. His heart is in the right place though. At least he is willing to give something up for the Earth.

he could fill the bath up with dirt seeing as he doesn`t need it and grow his self some nice organic veg (that will help him spend a bit less pension money at the shop ) and if he realy wants to go for it why doesn`t he build one of those eco generaters those ones that look like a bike And you loving grandson that you are can sit and peddle it all day so he can get his electric free as well.

Sounds like a lame excuse for just being plane lazy, why dont you suggest he put a brick or something into his Toilet cistern to reduce the amount of water he flushes, get low energy bulbs etc, etc

are u serious?
3 years?
does he live alone?
isn't the entire neighbourhood worrying from where this smell is coming from???

some ways u can try:

1 - walk along a swimming pool and just push him over...be ready to save him.
2 - drop a bucket full of water on him.
3 - when will it rain there?? make him stand in rain ,,he wont be wasting water ...
4 - talk to fire brigade ppl..they are always help full..they will do something about it...
5 - take him to a nice sauna / or a massage place ...

thanks for not posting his pic here ....my machine would have started stinking....

Good for him! Try keeping his speed under 60mph while driving to lower his carbon footprint. Collect water for the garden using a waterbutt from his guttering. Grow some of his own vegitables. Also here (UK) you can ring up your electricity company and they will sign you up to only sending you power from renewable sources.

Tell him one person is not going to make a difference, hes probably the only person doing that!! think of the amount of people that waste water, car fumes, smoke and everything like that, him not washing is more likley adding to that!!!
