RTFM - some devices require drivers loading on to the PC, some dont. usually its the archaic or propriatory designs that require drivers loading.
most MP3 players are USB devices, which means connect it to to a USB port on the PC. These can be either at the front or the back of the PC Case (dependsd ont he case design and age). The MP3 player should have come with a suitable cable. most of the modern non propriatory designs act as a standard USB device, and they adhere tothe Plug & Play standard - plug it in, turn it own and it should appear as a USB device on your computer.
a USB socket on a PC is about 12mm wide and 5mm high, often they come in groups (2 or 4) in one or two blocks on the back of a PC. i fyou look carefully at the socket abount half the socket will have a plastic spacer (this stops you inserting the cable incorrectly), in the receptacle you will see four contacts on the side wall of the socket
There is sometimes a logo similar to
-(USB
the player will also have a socket on it, if its a USB then its likely its going to be a type 2 connector (sort of rentagular with the corners chamfered on one side, about 7 mm long, 3mm wide, with 5 distinct connectors inside the socket
if its an older machine it may have a type 1 socket 7mmx 6mm, with the connectors 4 off on either side of the 7mm length.
however some machines use a propriatory connector due to either size, waterproofing or plain cussedness. in this case you MUST have the cable that is supplied with the player
if you have bought an archaic or propriatory device then you may well be stuffed unless you have the appropriate interface card.

Practically all new MP3 players use the USB port (older iPods used firewire). The player would have also come with a USB cable to connect to the PC.
A word of warning, do not connect the player to the PC until you have installed its driver first.

If you want to transfer songs to your MP3 player, then use the appropriate connector to plug one end into your MP3 player and the other end into your computer's USB port.
