Think about it . Are you pure fantasy?
The Bible is the written History of life passed down in oral form until writing material was invented and of course writing itself.
The problem is in translating dead languages from poorly preserved scrapes of material. Lots of room for error in translation from one language to another. a faded mark or a hole in the page and guessing what should be written there can change the whole meaning of some verses.
The Garden of EDEN tale is the story of the creation of the first of the race called Israelites, Not the creation of the first two people on Earth.and so is the rest of the OLD TESTAMENT.
The NEW TESTAMENT is a continuation of the first TESTAMENT . And is not finished yet.The pen of the BOOK of LIFE is still writing new pages.

It is well known that modern catholic theology doesn't believe any more in the literal truth of the Gospel. Nobody in the Catholic church, even the Pope, still believes that Josue stopped de course of the sun, or that the world is 6.000 years old.

Contemporary archeology allows one to make the difference between what is historical and what is pure propaganda in the Gospel?

Read for instance THE BIBLE UNEARTHED by Israel Finkelstein and Neil Asher Silberman; The Free Press, A division of Simon & Schuster, Inc.(New York, USA 2001)

There are television programs about that book.

no it is not. it is TOTAL AND TOTALLY THE TRUTH. and we Christians know it. even if you are not a Christian, it is still considered history, a record of past events. so it is total truth. the only difference is that sometimes when they translate the Bible from the original language into english, the words used may have a SLIGHTLY different emphasis. so read different translations, different english versions. if you understand the original language then all the better. :) :)

The Bible is used as a reference text for historians and archeologists. The Bible has been studied for centuries, and has stood the test.

In a word...no. Maybe you were thinking about evolution...

It all depends on your religious beliefs. If you believe it's real, good for you. Live your life by it. If not, it's nothing but fiction. It doesn't really matter either way; it was written millennia ago, and should certainly not be used as any kind of manual for modern-day living.

No it's not, it's the word of God! It's His teaching manual for His children. Something for us to live by to be more like Christ. Try it you'll love it!!
