how is the sitiuation in sg golok and southern thailand

No, not lately my friend. The last one was on the 3rd of August. But still the situation in that area is tensed.

If you're traveling to Thailand, I suggest you go north. Chiang Mai is a great option. It's relatively peaceful and safe. Bangkok is a good choice too but the current political situation might spoil your holiday.

If you really have to pass through Sungai Golok (Kolok in Thai), don't stay overnight to be safe. Go straight to Hatyai and take a train going to Bangkok, then to Chiang Mai.

So, the last bomb in Sungai Golok was on the 3rd of August.

There had been recent blasts reported in the papers, as recently as 5 days ago. In fact a series of explosions across some major cities in the south. Travel advisories advised avoiding southern Thailand and this will include Sg. Golok. You are not serious in going there, are you?
