I live in a small village in south england, on the weekend some items of food were stolen from a kitchen in a local hotel around 3am, I was in the area as I was trying to get a friend home or to look for his friend as he had missed his taxi. 3 people who all have history with me therefore hold a grudge saw me in the area and told the police they saw me running away from the hotel, me and me mate were arrested and bailed on the suspicion of burgulry, there is no one sayin we where in the hotel and no proof to say we were seen apart from 3 peoples word of mouth, what are the chances of this going any further eg being taken to court etc, if it does then my hopes of joining the marines next year will be gone as i already have a criminal record...

are there no cameras at this hotel to prove that someone else done this? if there are witnesses, especially more than one, than more than likely you will be charged with this. Even if they are lying. this is a hard one..sorry man

the best thing you can do is to get Statutory Declarations from anyone who can fairly confirm your version of events and thereby prove why you were seen where you were.
the "history" between you and those others is less important unless you can show a valid reason why the judge should doubt their testimony, so concentrate on the real reason you were in the area.
it's just a guess here, but the case against you doesn't seem very strong.
having said all the above, you should still be adamant you weren't running and you didn't commit the burglary.

Well in the United States we have so much crime that the District Attorney would probably drop this case due to lack of evidence. Besides if you decide to have a jury trial you would probably will since you have no real hard core witness's, its all circumstantial as I can see. I don't think you have anything to worry about due to lack of evidence. You must however be adamant that if the District Attorney doesn't not drop this that you request a jury trial!!!! Do not take a plea bargain because this assures you to have a permanent record and assumes your guilt in this matter! If I can help you in any way please feel free to contact me via messages on here. You should have no problems getting this case dropped though so please don't loose any sleep over it.

my ex was charged with fraud on the testimony of his ex wife and two brothers, no other evidenc, it went to trial and he was found not guilty by a jury within 13 minutes, once on the stand the three witnesses were torn to shreds cos they were lying
We still had to pay a lawyer though and go through all the stress
good luck
sadly the police only seem to care about getting the arrest not finding out the truth, they leave that to the courts

I dont know the laws of your country but it sounds suspicious at best, in America the backgrounds of everyone involved including the accsusers would come to question, and chances are if they can't pin you to the scene then it woudln't stick, but I dont know your countries laws or trial proceedings to give you an honest answer....Seek legal representation

Your explanation does not sound very plausible to me. I reckon you are guilty.
