I'm a fit healthy person, without a supressed immune system, even if I got sick from tainted food odds are I'll survive. I still drive a car, take an aiplane, eat rare beef, I'm okay with bagged spinach, besides even if you buy bunched spinach if its containated washing it is not going to make it safe. You can't live in a bubble.

I have never trusted pre-washed bagged leafy greens to begin with, yes I will probably buy them again. The only cases of E. Coli came from harvests in California. Thanks to the media, all other spinach farmer's (and now lettuce farmers) businesses are taking a beating. All food, especially uncooked runs the risk of containing E. Coli. Rinse your vegetables and you should be fine. I'm more leery about eating a salad in a restaurant (and I used to waitress). You don't know that the person who has made the salad was practicing sanitary procedure. I've seen too many just dip their hands in without washing.

I did not eat that stuff to begin with. I do not like the taste of it, they put some kind of chemical on it to preserve it and it makes me sick. If I am served bagged spinach or lettuce at a restaurant I can tell the difference. I usually ask if the salad greens are are bagged and if the reply is yes, then I will not have a salad. Its just bad news.

Aloha from Down Unda!

Did you mean ~
"Will you ever trust bagged spinach or lettuce again?"?

The answer is, of course, definately, "Yes!". A few isolated incidents should not deter us from eating anything that we enjoy. If there is a car accident, why would anyone want to get in a car? The same answer applies, we live our lives with the knowledge that anything can happen at any time. We can choose to live or die a million deaths of fear. Get well over it & eat yer spinach!

You shouldn't even trust that to begin with.
Where I live there is no such thing. I mean there is lettuce and spinach but its all from scratch, you buy it you wash it with your own hands and then you cook it.
Much safer I think at least, it takes more time though.
Only watching the news and seeing all those rows of bagged spinach the first thing I thought was e-coli to begin with.
I know its a pain to buy fresh spinach and lettuce and have to to it all but its better than taking the risk of eating it when you dont know how its been handled.
I guess that goes for any food nowadays!

I'm not sure...I was a little freaked out when it was just spinach! I kept asking....How do they know it is only in spinach? Now lettuce...Scary! I eat salads at least 5-6 times a week. Unfortunately lettuce is not only used on salads...it is used for wraps, burgers, sandwiches...etc. What is next? We can't become a meat and potatoes society because potatoes might not even be safe soon! Good Luck!

Oh no way! I stopped trusting the lettuce when I got it home & it was frozen in the middle with a spider stuck to it...never never never will I again....I have a feeling people might just start growing their own again, I know I am!

nicely, after 9/11 a lot of human beings mentioned that they had in no way fly back and look, they are flying. The'll fix the priority and human beings will purchase extra spinach back. it incredibly is like the 9/11 of the spinach industry.

I bought some just last week and even though it's from Colorado and not California I won't let my young son eat it (he's 8 and LOVES fresh spinach). And I have to admit, I haven't eaten much of it either and usually I eat it in a few days or so. I think we'll stick to growing our own!!!
