I have noticed that the areas that have the highest rates of gay teen suicide and also abuse and attacks on gays also have the highest rates of "Christian" believers and church attendance.
Why do Christians follow their dogmatic way of thinking with such hateful fervor that it causes hateful angry evildoers to hurt and kill gays for no other reason than to fulfill their religious beliefs? DON"T they know that the blood of innocent people is on their hands... and that if they really believe in God, then they should cease their hateful attacks of gays, for if they are in any way responsible for the killing or death of gays, then they shall go to hell? Their excuse of "they were gay = they were evildoers = they deserved it" won't fly with God???
What does anyone think?

No Miriam: I'm not "getting it all wrong". Christians do spread hate regarding gays. There are gays who are killed just because of their sexuality, and it is often done in the name of Christianity.
bluffmike: I can easily get "sources" for you if you need them. Don't worry.

Even to those who are implying that those Christians who hate gays aren't true Christians.... how do such people as Phelps and other "televangelitrash" spew their hatred without Christianity? Doesn't their "message" center around the teaching of Christianity? How can you separate the hateful ones from the message they preach? How can you say that their message isn't truly "Christian" when they quote the "Bible" and say hateful things like "God hates fags" and "all gays are going to hell"??????????

To Ken D: Thanks. your post is very thoughtful and sounds like you come close to being a beacon of hope to those "who have been rejected too many times". But unfortunately for many gays, even this is not enough.. I ask you- i have been to the sites that you have posted, and came across this bible passage:
Matthew 5:43 Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. 44 But I say unto you, Love
your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
And you say that Phelps and his gang do not obey this scripture. But i ask you: why even use this line of scripture? Are the Phelps' being "persecuted" in nearly the same way that gays are by him? How can you even compare the depth of persecution, hatred and isolation that gays must deal with from the ignorance of the world, with the "persecution" that ilk like Phelps bring upon themselves?

Please remember that Jesus said there would be tares in with the wheat. Just because someone calls themselves a Christian, does not make them one. Many think they really are because they believe that Jesus existed and even that HE died for our sins. This does not make them a Christian any more then going into McDonalds makes one a hamburger.
At the very least, they violate the LORD's second greatest commandment...LOVE your neighbor as yourself.
I did send the Westboro Baptist church in Topeka Kansas an e-mail (which I knew they would ignore) which you can read in the 2nd link below but in part it says:
Many of these people you picket to bring them to GOD have been
rejected most of their life and you are rejecting them again. In
reality, you may just as well tell them to go to hell. You are
doing a very good job at assuring they will not turn to the LORD.
I work in a ministry where we have heard this many times. Half of
our work is to offset "Christians" just like you that have all but
driven them away from GOD when they were looking for someone to love
them, someone to care. Many have responded to love. One person
called me at 3 AM to cuss me out and he did so for at least 15
minutes. I then had a chance to talk to him and by 4 AM, his anger
was gone because he met the PRINCE OF PEACE and had placed his trust
in Jesus Christ. He was angry because of the way "Christians" had
treated him far too often.
I could say more but I doubt if you really care. You tell us to
enter if we are not afraid of the truth? How about YOU? Are you
willing to know the truth?

THIS hate is wrong. I doubt that even the KKK can hate this much. I
am embarrassed to have themselves call them "Christian"…but please
hear me. Not everyone that proclaims to be a Christian is one.

I dont think that "Christianity" hates gays. Christianity at its best is loving and non-judgemental. There are some "christians" who believe that it is their right to judge. But its not. By the way, I have never read in the Bible that if you are gay then you are going to hell. Homosexuality is generally considered to be immoral. But, Its not my place to say.
By the way, I have worked in the area of mental illness for many years and I can tell you that many of the kids with the most problems dont come from christian families, they come from crazy christian families use the Bible to bully and corner people including their kids.
Gay people arent evil doers. Many that Ive known and the ones Im related to happen to be some of the more decent and caring people Ive ever met. Ill finish with something that I hope that you already know "The only power that someone has to annoy you is the power you give them"

I would first encourage you to take a step back from presuppositions before jumping to conclusions. It is not a Christian practice to hate gays, or anyone else. God doesn't hate gays, Christians are called to practice love.
There may be some card carrying nutjobs out there, even a great number that claim to be Christians and will claim absurd things such as "God hates fags". There is a serious problem with their thinking, and I will give you ammunition to combat it with.
1. All people are evil.
This is a Christian viewpoint. By themselves, all people are evil in their heart. This doesn't mean necessarily that they do a whole lot of evil things in the sense that the world notices. It means that they reject God and his holiness by looking to themselves rather than God.
2. All people sin.
Christians sin too. Any Christian that claims they do not sin lies, and the Truth of God is not in them. Some sins are huge in our eyes, such as genocide, rape, and any of a number of other moral taboos. Some sins seem small, such as telling a "white lie", or harboring lustful thoughts. To God, all sin is horribly offensive. There are those who disagree whether God holds all sins completely equal, or whether he views them in degrees. Whichever the case may be, it is very well agreed that God very passionately hates sin. Homosexuality is one of many sins. For that gays deserve death and hell, just like every other sinner on the face of the planet.
3. God loves sinners.
While it is true that God hates sin, he loves sinners. This is due to the fact that God expresses what the greeks called "Agape" love. Agape is a word in greek for love that indicates a completely unconditional and complete love. If God's love is unconditional, then nothing that a person does or does not do or is or is not has any bearing on God's love. This is a simple deduction, because if there was a factor that caused God's love, and that factor was taken away in some manner, then God's love would stop, and thus would have been found to have a condition.
Jesus came to redeem sinners. As God, he lived on this earth and endured every temptation that we face, and yet did not fall victim to any of them. He did this to redeem people of all walks of sin. Whether they be a liar, a thief, a homosexual, or just a mean person. God came for even the sake of monsters such as Hitler.
Anyone who follows such an act that you have described has one of two problems. either
A) They are not a Christian, and merely used the Bible as their excuse to persecute people with hate because the Bible condemns homosexuality as a sin, or
B) They are an exceptionally immature Christian that has very little understanding of the Scripture and have been drawn into the deceptions the devil has placed to trap weak Christians so that they will be ineffective at being an instrument to rescue other people from Satan's power.
I hope this helps you out some in your understanding.

Gadds - - - as a Jew a Liberal and a f a g I have had Christians dogging my a s s for centuries. However it should be stressed that there quite a lot of Christians who are tolerant or at the very least indifferent. It falls to a vocal group of Evangelicals to expouse a doctrime of hatred & violence. Often their true motives are hard to define. Many a times a climate of hate & fear leads to unexpected rewards. Think about it - - - how often has a scared teenager found comfort in his Evangelical preacher's arms ? And because of their doctrine of hate, neither one will say anything, many a minister has made it clear, 'you tell anyone and you will go to H ***.'
Peace....

Well, I'm not sure about other churches, but the Catholic Church teaches that the homosexual ACT is wrong, NOT the homosexual PERSON.
In other words, hate the sin, love the sinner.
We're supposed to treat each other with love, as Christ commanded, but perhaps maybe with even MORE compassion to homosexuals because they're cross is even harder to bare. Within the Catholic church there are numerous ministries to help the homosexual overcome their struggles.

In God's eyes gay intercourse is not any diverse than on the instant intercourse. intercourse outdoors of marriage is considered a sin. it is unlucky that such somewhat some all human beings is getting cynical in the direction of Christianity using fact of what some Christians say a pair of particular subject remember. only using fact somebody states that they seem to be a Christian does not recommend that they don't look to be flesh and nevertheless make errors. The Apostle Paul replaced right into a stable Christian who had deep faith in God yet nevertheless made errors using fact he replaced into human. I agree that God loves all human beings and He needs them to be stored. whether we've self belief in Jesus, we nevertheless make mistake so only ask your self whether the existence you're ideal might make God proud. Christianity isn't a license to sin yet we ought to purpose to stay a suitable existence.

True Christians don't hate anyone. If someone claims to be a Christian but isn't showing the love of Christ, then they aren't a Christian.
My general opinion on sexuality, posted on another thread: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AppYgfiLu7xfcESEk8Zhvazsy6IX?qid=20061008225619AA2g1Y3
BEING gay is not wrong, but homosexual ACTS are the real issue. But let's not let heterosexuals off the hook here--the Bible has a lot to say about sexual morality that applies very much to heterosexuals as well--I think there's a lot that's not being said about chastity outside of marriage, but there are a lot of heterosexual Christians who justify their "extracurricular" behavior on the grounds that God will forgive them. But it totally misses the point. The questions I pose to both heterosexuals and homosexuals are, "Whose will are you seeking? And who are you trying to please, yourself or God?" I've come to the conclusion that God calls homosexuals to live a life of chastity, focused on Him--but God also never intended for every heterosexual to get married or have sex, either. God calls some heterosexuals to be celibate and to focus on deepening their relationship with Him instead of with a marriage partner. What matters isn't what we want, but what God wants for us.

as a christian I don't believe you should hate anyone but disliking their ways and praying for their salvation or for God to shine light on their sins is the way to go. God said that a man lying with another man is an abomination. It's wrong and like it or not that's the way it is. I didn't say it but God did...I happen to agree with Him!

i am not a christian and i do not hate gays, but i would rather be avoiding to be alone with them in a private place. in my religious, killing and injuring a living thing--even ant, is a sin and must be punished in a purgatory when you were dead. some even believe that this doctrine applies to even tree, we do not cut some tree

Christians hate change. And religion is pretty much based on a bunch of events from the past so....it's hard for them to comprehend that the world has evolved and to except new ideas and thoughts...ones that were really never spoke about in the bible.
