I was given this for headaches but not sure how it will make me feel. I was told of the side affects but I want to hear from someone who has actually taken this. Is it like taking hydrocodone? The generic form is Ascomp with codiene 30 mg.

yes, I have taken to control migraines, my daughter took it. If you read or hear side effects to medications you wouldn't take any. I think it works great. The biggest thing is this. You have to take it, right when you feel the ting of a headache or it's too late. The codeine does make you tiered until your use to it. You can get Fiorinal without codeine, but I think with codeine is much better. Our doctors won't even give it anymore. It was the only thing that help my daughter with her migraines. Today she is 31, and suffers greatly. You must not be from California, where pain relievers are almost against the law these days.

I have not taken this combination personal, but was on fiorcet with codiene for a long time for migraine headaches. They are similar medications to my knowledge ebing in the medical field. I never had any side effects. Most of these medications contain butabitol/acetaminophen/codiene and often caffiene believe it or not. Each individual person will react to a medicine a different way, when I first started taking these meds I often felt a bit drowsy, but nothing that did not subside with time. This is not a comparison to hydrocodone (vicodin es).

But both may cause drowsiness and should only be taken at the onset of a headache, not on a regular basis or before. As both run the risk of addiction as they do both contain a narcotic.

Best of Luck,

I have taken it. Start with only half as you may find it too strong. Never take on an empty stomach. I find two excedrin just as effective and with fewer side effects.

Ha ha Suzie!!!! That was a scene from one of the Carry On films - can't remember which one, obviously Doctor something or other! Hattie Jacques was the one who gave the patient the daffodil.
