It will soften and maybe lessen scars. I put it on twice a day when the scar is fresh.

I don't think Vitamin E will make scars fade as much as some other specially formulated products especially for scars. I always use sunblock. Direct sun exposure without sunscreen can make scars more visible and promote free radicals (bad things) in the skin. I take vitamin E orally like 1000 i,u. per day... It seems to help my skin. I did purchase Vitamin E oil to try it but it did not work for me (I maybe had the wrong kind though). I have been looking into using vitamin C as a topical treatment for my skin (Vitamin C helps build collagen when the correct type (L-absorbic) is applied topicly to skin and helps prevent free radicals). My scar need some plumping out (Collegen) so this is why I think the vitamin C serum may help my scars to fade. Skin gel for scars worked okay for me (like Mederma) also, the curad scar pads helped mine well too. The mederma reddens scars a little at first so I put it on at bedtime and the scar is less visible in the morning.

It works best every day, right out of the shower, after your skin has had time to soften up and can accept the oil better. I usually lay around for awhile naked right out of the shower, take a nap, and let it soak in.
