everything is fine. don't stress. they give you antibiotics while in labor or before and then baby is protected. it is very common for women to test positive, and it VERY UNCOMMON for anything to happen to baby. no stress. cause that's no good for baby!

It's not a big deal because you KNOW that you are GBS+ and will be treated for it in labor. All you have to do is to have antibiotics in labor to help prevent you passing it to baby. You can have these given through a heplock so you don't have to be tied to an IV the whole time.

Also, the longer that your bag of water stays intact, the better. There is less chance of exposure that way. So.....think long and hard before allowing them to rupture your water! Eat lots of vitamin C foods and take vitamin C tablets now to help you grow a strong bag so you can labor with it intact as long as possible.

I was GBS- with my first and GBS+ with #2 and #3. I only had antibiotics with #3. My second labor was too fast to get them.....BUT she was also only exposed for about 12 minutes during pushing since my bag was intact until then. All three were healthy babies.

You should know that GBS can come and go. Just because you were positive when you were tested does not mean you will still be positive when you go into labor. Take the antibiotics as a safeguard and all should be OK.

They'll give you antibiotics when you go into labor and everything should be A-OK. They'll do everything possible to make sure nothing bad happens to your baby, that's why we have to get those annoying tests! It's not a big deal as long as they know whether or not you need antibiotics. Congratulations mama!

It can be bad if it's not taken care of prior to birth. However, these days, if a pregnant woman tests positive then she is given medicine a couple weeks prior to birth and then again during labor to ensure the baby does not get infected. Many babies are born to mothers that have Group B, but because of the medicine, the baby is not harmed.

Relax..it is fairly common to be a carrier. You will get a shot of antibiotics about 6 hours before your baby is born. Listen to your Dr...he said not to worry...stop reading things online...you will just stress yourself out even more.

Most cases of group B strep disease in newborns can be prevented by giving certain pregnant women antibiotics during labor.

Don't stress out about it. They will give you med's before the baby is born to insure that the baby will be fine. It doesn't hurt you either.
