i figured that we all must go somewhere when we die so i believe that there is a god that provides us a "heaven" for us to live in after we die. i don't like the idea of just dying and...well, just dying

Because I have senses and a brain to think?
The only reason why you would not believe in God would be because you believe in spontaneous generation and would have the arrogance to think that there is no greater mind or power in the universe than yours. If you are looking for God in the mythology of the world civilizations or religions, it is understandable that you can not believe in God. Man has had too many representations of God, and since they have generally lost the connection between the symbol and its significance,it is hard to accept those symbols as God. Have you ever thought about the beliefs of most astronomers? I met many who find God in the contemplation of the Infinite and humbling Universe, they would not attempt to describe God, or define Him as something or other, they just felt a presence that transcended human understanding and completed some human need to give meaning to their existence.
The saying "there are no atheists in fox holes" is an interesting study of human complacency. We seem to pose as braven and godless until tragedy strikes, after that it is praying all day and night, without questioning to whom or to what we are praying. I think the best reason why we believe in God is because we need Him.

It's 90% subjective-I feel that people are spiritual beings with a divine purpose who for a short time live in the material world, and 10% logic. The universe conforms to rational physical laws and has a natural harmony so it wouldn't surprise me if there were some intelligence that influenced that.

Because He IS love. Not that He can or will or might love....He IS Love. And He is a Father, Jesus said....Abba Father....which means Daddy.
He is real and will reveal Himself to you. He said search for me and you will find me when you search with all your heart. He is waiting for you. Just cry out to Him....He will meet you where you are.
By the way......I don't believe in athiests, I think that they are mad at God and reblling against authority. There is alot of hate towards God on this sight. Don't look to man.....look to God.

kathy v,
"is there any reason why you believe in god?"
Yes. I decided to trust Him, and He let me know that He is there.

"did anything ever happen to you that made u believe in him"
I was alone and did not know what speaking in tongues was. And the urge was tremendous. I also saw heaven, and I also had a demon chased from me. He didn't have to do thsoe things to get me to believe, but He did them anyways.

I have believed in god all my life and Jesus, but three years ago God did a miracle for my dad. His brain started swelling and he lost all kinds of weight until he was soooo skinny. I went into the ladies bathroom and prayed please god don't take him now let him live for a while longer. We called in my dads pastor and he prayed for him and my dad started moving his eyes around. we all couldn't believe it. It really was a miracle. and to all those who don't believe I do and this is what Jesus did for my family!

Please read my words carefully:
If you see footmark in the sand, you'll say that someone passed from here...
If you see a piece of dog sh*t on the ground, you'll say that a dog passed from here...
So what about the enormous universe, the sky, stars, planets, earth and all the beauty in it, doesn't it lead to that someone made it?!!!

Some people say that everything is created by itself after the big-bang... I won't ask you about what caused the big-bang, but I'll ask you a simple question:
If you take all the letters of the alphabet, multiples of them, and you threw them randomly on the floor. Do you expect (by a chance of one in infinity) to get a poem like shakespear's??!!

Can't you see how organized our universe is, the planets, the eco-system on earth, look even in your own body... Can you control your heart-beat? Can you control your breath while you're sleeping? Who stopped your eye-lashes from growing after reaching a certain length? Who told the baby turtles to move towards the sea and not to the earth after they come out of their eggs? Who taught the bird how to make nests?

My friend, think with your heart and brain. If you're still lost, think about the following:

Do you know how to play safe?
Your point:
If there's no God and you do all what you want in life, then nothing will happen to you after life. But if there was God and you were mistaken, then you'll blame yourself FOREVER...

Believer's point:
If there's God and I followed His commands in life, then I'll be in Heaven after life FOREVER. But if there was no God and we're mistaken, then nothing bad will happen to us after life...

Now you know how to play-safe, in case you're not convinced?

No there is no reason why I believe in god because I don't.

Humoring people in their fantasies can go too far , sometimes we have to remind ourselves that fiction is just that and stop the mental decline.

It seems safer - - - do you know how badly people freak out if one expresses even a smidgen of doubt. Being threatened with being burnt at the stake has made many a believer.

Peace...
