You have gone over the manual. And most likely you felt excited when you got the camera. Right??? Put that away for 48 hours and do something else. When you get back to your camera and read the manual over again with your camera out you might find the answer to your problem. If by chance it still isn't doing what it's supposed to be doing then take it back to the store and get the person to explain it to you.
For goodness sake your not stupid, just excited.

Get a camera appropriate for a web cam use. Any digital camera will not work as a web cam.
