Once again you missed the mark. Erudite? I think not. If you will do further research you will find most of the Democrats are concerned with the North Korea issue also. I haven't seen or read of anyone in the world jumping up and down about how happy they are for North Korea. "soiled" themselves? I guess you would know more about that than me.
check this out:
You are a person who is seen by their peers as having about everything a person would want.
You are walking down the middle of the road.
On one side of the road is a person who is desperate, poor, hungry and has just gotten a new gun and ammo.
On the other side of the road is a rich person who's bodyguard has a gun and is an expert marksman.
Which side of the road would you be concerned with???

I don't think that the USA is necessarily scared of the North Korean situation, however it is in a pickle as far as the current economic consequences of the Iraq situation as well as increasing world instability, and global warming among other things. So North Korea is just one more thing for America to deal with however its people and politics are becoming more and more divided inconsequential with increasing international pressures, so I just must say the USA has bigger fears from within then North Korea.

Off all the other Card carrying members of the Nuclear Neighbourhood
USA
Russia
UK
India
Pakistan
China
Israel ( tho they dont openly admit they have them)
All countries have a civil relationship with the US. Korea is poor, they let their people starve have no social infrastructure. They have no morals or reason for self restraint. It will be up to China to reign in this rogue nation. How ironic that they test a nuclear bomb the day the UN all but announces that a South Korean will be the new head of the UN.

Where did you ever got the idea that the United States is scared of the DPRK?
Russia's nukes have a higher probability of success of hitting us than the so-called nukes the North Koreans have. Even if their armies numbered at 10 million strong, I won't give it a damn.
Reasons being:
- a largely conscript third world army;
- no fighting quality, or capability to speak of;
- a non-existant navy and air force;
- a non-existant logistical capability to sustain itself in a prolonged fight.
North Korea's nuclear program has been around for years, and your remark of Republicans soiling themselves are all exaggerated. This is already old news.
President Bush mentioned the word 'concerned'. Not scared. It means we take this turn of events seriously but it doesn't mean that having a nuke makes you all powerful and mighty suddenly (heck, we have more warheads if you want to count).

Because, unlike Iraq, N. Korea is in China's backyard, so we have to tiptoe around them. Because N. Korea has one of the worlds largest armies and they are mindless, just like the Nazi's were with Hitler and our troops are still in S. Korea. Because they are a leader in the support of terrorism. Because, now that they have nukes (no matter how small), they can give or sell them to terrorist, who in turn will plant them here in this country and cause us a world of hurt. Republicans, democrats, America itself may soil it's self if this happens and more.

Really, did you check the soilage to be sure. Nobody, not even congress is surprised that North Korea has nukes. Hell Clinton practically handed them to North Korea in 1994. The surprise is at the desperation of North Korea in actually performing a test. Who knows what they might do next.

The US is not scared of North Korea, we have allies in the firing zone.
Let me explain something to you. The US is about 5 years away from accepting the consequences of another Global War. In the current climate of the waining Culture Wars the people of the US are seeing that the GOP is not God's Only Party. Once that revelation sinks in, we will slowly drop the fracas that is keeping the US divided. Once that occurs and we begin to understand that we are all one nation, we will begin to see that we do have interest on a global scale. Once that sinks in, we will be more inclined to engage in a war of the proportions of WWII. It is a learning curve. On one hand the Conservative are right when it comes to international relations. We are playing a game of High Stakes poker against people who want it all (so do we). On the other hand the Liberal are right that we need to take care of our own people as well. Once the two factions converge, and the US is unified again, we will be inclined to address Global issue aggressively.

The reason the world doesn't want North Korea to have Atomic weapons is because North Korea is so poor they would sell the bomb to whoever showed up with enough money.
My solution would be for The U.S. to buy the bombs from them.

The reason we weren't scared of Iraq was because the administration secretly knew that they had no WMDs to be worried about.
Now that the North Koreans have proved that they have Nukes, the GOP is all of the sudden very cautious and diplomatic. I'm sure there'll be no "Shock and Awe" campaign in NK.
