I have to visit Bangkok in December. I am so worried because of the new military government and whether there could be any civil war or fights or panic situations.
Last year I visited there and I found Bangkok was very peaceful and It was one of best cities I have ever visted.
Can I visit there now with that assurance?
Dear Thai people, Can you please explain the situation there? Specially in Bangkok.
Thank you.

The military took advantage of Their presidents state visit to the USA to stage a bloodless overthrow of an embattled and dishonored leader. It was not unexpected. The real power in Thailand is thier King, who is giving his tacit support to the coo by not condemning it. The military is running business as usual until another elected president can be installed.

The Thai people are mostly Buddist. War is totally against thier nature. So is violence, and you havent seen much since the overthrow. I doubt if you will see much. A good friend of mine owns a condo in Bangkok and has no intention of leaving.

BTW, the fringe benefit of the coo is that the USD and other currencies are trading higher against the Baat and so you will have a whole lot more money to spend on your trip. Enjoy!

business as usual in Bangkok. you will notice this was a very peaceful action. yes there were tanks on the street, but you may also have noticed that the local residents treated it like a holiday. go enjoy yourself.

there are really only two things wrong with bangkok in my opinion, terrible air quality, and rampant aids in the sex trade. i generally go for long rides on the water taxi to clear out my lungs, and just stay away from the hookers

Bangkok is somewhat risky! Riots, and mobs, who's many times going on with consistent with probability some adverse white vacationer on trip gets lynched for smiling in the land of smiles.!!! 2 issues... i became in Bangkok whilst the militia ousted Thaksin Shinawatra. i became ingesting at a Lesbian (or is it Lebanese- despite) eating place on sukhumvit soi 4 with my then female pal. the two one human beings have been given telephone calls announcing to bypass domicile because of the fact there have been a militia coup. the following day we've been smiling and taking pictures with squaddies.... 2 the media right that's state run, yet there are extra than a number of in the media that owe very plenty of their achievement to Thaksin. because of this, protesters are painted as unruly and so on the protests are a strictly Thai element- they have not have been given something against you and you is in basic terms no longer in possibility. Come, savour your stay and don't be stupid.

Nothing to worry at all. The military coup was a most peaceful one, except for the sight of tanks and armed soldiers in the initial days of the coup. Even then, it was life as normal; not to mention now and December is 2 months away! Go ahead, make your plans and welcome to Thailand :-)

Hi, it will be ok there. The country is still celebrating their King's ascension to the throne, so things that are politically motivated will not try to impact this. So you can go with an easy mind.

Things are as usual for the locals,.
