what i love about Ruth is the fact that she was an outsider. she was a foreigner -not a native israelite. the jews werent big on gentiles at this time, yet here is ruth, sticking around. in marrying Boaz, she falls into the direct line of Jesus' ancestors. in his lineage, there are three women who are mentioned - and they really stand out. Ruth, a non-israelite: Rahab, a prostitute; and Bathsheba, an adulteress. what is that about? with these three, and the fact they are mentioned in a geneology dominated by male ancestors, is pretty amazing. seems like god is saying that he welcomes whomever will come to him - regardless of where and what they are. i think god is trying to shake people out of their prejudices - by taking up with people deemed "unacceptable" by the chronically religious folks. pretty kool, when u think about it!
i think that god was also commenting on the idea that "nobility" is a state of the heart, rather than a privilege of birth or social position. righteous is as righteous does...that sort of thing.

I love the story of Ruth and Naomi! Unlike many of the stories in the Old T. it is not a story of evil or of shame. It is a story of survival, of loyalty, family, and hope.

It is one of my favorite stories, as I can relate with Ruth. She and I have both chosen a people to love and be a part of.

It is probably one of my most favorite books in the Bible; It also lets you know that you may not be what some termed as "chosen" but you can be a part of the race that became the direct descendents of Jesus.

Yes I like the story it shows great love and respect for a mother-in-law, something we see very little of in today’s world. It also shows the conversion of a non-Israelite into the fold of Israel, giving up her former god and former life to unite with the household of faith in the service of the God of Israel.

Yes, I read it. It was great. It shows her respect and love for her mother-in-law, but it also shows that Gentiles would be accepted, other than Jews

What's with all your old testament questions? Do you have it for homework? because if so, you aren't going to learn anything by getting others to do your homework.

It was okay, but unlike most Bible stories, it really didn't have much meaning.
