This past saturday night I found some fleas on my little dog. I quickly gave him a flea bath that night and washed all of his beds, toys, my cloths, and my bedding (he sleeps in his crate, but was on my bed earlier in the day). The next day I got some flea powder for the carpet and did the entire house (even though he is only in about 2 rooms 99% of the time). On monday I took him to the vet and got frontline (the vet checked and couldn't see any more on him). I also bought some flea and tick killer for the yard which I am going to throw down tomorrow (tuesday). The dog has two beds that I have been alternating. Every night I take the one out he had for the day and wash it and give him the other one.
Just want to know how you would rate my war on these little guys so far and if you could add any ideas that might be helpful. I am open to home remedies. Oh yea, I also bought some organic flea spray (it has citris or lemon in it?) that I spray on his bed every day. Thanks for the help

Sounds like you've won. Just remember to keep a lookout for them. You might have only killed the live fleas and not the eggs. Keep using frontline on the doggie and use the frontline spray on his bedding. Other than that I'd say you've definately covered all your bases. Good job!
EDIT: Please don't ever use any soap on your dog that is not made specifically for dogs. Soaps like that can actually burn his skin. A dogs skin is very different from ours and dishwashing liquid is made to clean just that - dishes. Have you ever felt how dry your skin feels after washing dishes? That shows you how harsh soaps can be and its alot worse on pets. So please only use stuff that is made for animal use.

It sounds like you're giving the little buggers a run for their money - well done on attacking the issue on all fronts! Hoovering the bedding/carpets/couches is also helpful & put a flea collar in the bag to kill any fleas that make it alive through the vacuum. If the fleas persisit you may also need to alternate the flea remedies you're using like this time you used frontline, next time maybe use revolution or something because the fleas can become resistant to the same chemicals. Keep up the good work!

I know exactly what you're going through. You need to get some
fine cedar shavings from your local store and make small pillows for your dogs crate. Fleas cannot stand cedar shavings AT ALL.
The shavings are soft and fluffy so your baby will still be comfortable but FLEA FREE. There is just something about the
scent of the cedar that drives fleas crazy. Hope this helps you little fella. GOOD LUCK!!!!

Sounds like you have it about covered. I only want to add that you should treat the carpets and yard twice, a week apart.
Flea eggs are indistructable and hatch babies every few days, so you gotta treat at least twice.
Good job so far.
I have never had any luck with the natural products. Can't hurt though so may as well go for it.

Fleas are a nemesis...but starting with treating your yard is the best defense. Be careful about over treating areas with your dog as some animals will have seizures due to flea medicines & collars. 7 dust won't hurt your dog and is very effective. You just spinkle it down on your carpet, then vacum the next day or 2. It is safe for animals too...Good luck!

The only thing I would add is to change your sweeper bag often if your sweeper uses bags. As you are sucking up live fleas and their eggs with your sweeper, they can stay in there, breed and often escape to re-infest. But other than that - sounds like you have your bases covered. Also, watch your pet for signs of illness or a reaction to the products you are using - you can over treat a pet or area. Good luck.

Sounds like you have taken a big jump ahead of them. For the next couple of days spray everything again and use the powder. Flees will continue to show up until you have broken the cycle. Keep doing what you have been and you will have it made. Good luck!!!

There is a simple solution to fleas. If you find fleas in you dog, give him a bath and put a little bit of Ajax antibacterial (orange) dish soap (quarter size in your hand) if your dog is little, and rub it in all over your dog. Let it sit for about 5 minutes, then rinse really good. Use some conditioner after wards because dish soap can dry up your dogie's skin. Good luck!

It sounds like you are going to be the winner! If your neighborhood has stray cats, they are often the culprits that carry the fleas..
