The bible says often that no person is without sin, and nobody is good in the eyes of the lord because every one of us is a sinner. I understand that part. What I don't understand is why we need to apologize to God for being exactly the way he made us? Essentially what Christianity says is that we are all sinners no matter what we do, so in the eyes of Lord, the person who tries their best to not ever sin but occasionally slips up is worse than the person who sins more often but always repents and believes in God. I don't know why but that just sounds dumb to me?

GobleyGook: Exactly what I was trying to say. Most people aren't answering my question. It seems odd that god would make all these rules to follow and instead of saying "Try your best not to break these" he says "If you break these just apologize and believe in me and your fine." Christianity just seems a little too convenient at times doesn't it?

It's interesting. That for Christianity you don't have to DO good things, just be sorry for your BAD deeds! Sin Sin sin but believe in Christ and your saved! It's an awesome religion for the poor, inmates, and the hopeless..

Actually, the scripture says that "All have sinned, and fallen short of the glory of God." You state that you don't know why you need to appologise to God? You are not appologising to Him. You are asking forgiveness. The two are different.

He did not make us sinners. We made us sinners. You have the choice to live as He directs, or not. Do we fail..yes. Do we sin...sure. That is part and parcel of being a human. But God is not looking at the individual sins.....well, that is not correct...He does...but He is also looking at the direction of a life. Not the specific incidents. But the attitudes that come with them. He weighs the motives of the heart. He see's the reason behind the question, the thoughts that drive the life.
This is what He judges...and not really Him. As He said, by the same measure you judge another, you will be judged. Most people take that as "If I don't say people are going to hell, then I'm safe." But that is not what He is saying.
Your attitudes, your prejudices, your vindictive thoughts of others, the cruel way you treat others and all the myraid things we do in regard to the people around us are the measure. Where you were harsh, He will be harsh...where you were unforgiving, He will be unforgiving,...where you were vindictive...He will be vindictive.... As He said...I will repay".

You set the standards....He simply judges you by the standards you set. Personally, I'd rather my cup be full of forgiveness, humbleness, thoughtfulness, love, kindness, and more...cause there is enough I am already guilty of....

All of us are not "sinners". All of us were born sinners. Read Acts chapter 2 and Verse 38. After you have accomplished that verse. You Should be able to live accordingly to his instructions. The Holy Spirit will lead and guide you. It will not make you do any thing. You still are capable of committing a sin. But you are not a sinner. You have been saved by his grace and mercy, by no doing of your own. And your statement about "worse " is not true. A sin is a sin no matter who commits it. You repent and don't do it anymore. Practicing sin is qualifies one as a sinner.

It's not just that our first parents sinned, it's how they sinned, and what the eternal effect of that sin was.

Man's first (original) sin was a sin of pride, and also a sin of treason against God.

Adam rejected God and threw his lot in with Satan.

Then, totally outmatched, and with no divine protection, he was swindled, lost everything, and soon found himself, his wife, and the entire human race enslaved forever under Satan's evil rule.

Slaves have no free will, and must do the bidding of their master, and without free will, Adam could not repent for his sin against God.

No repentance = no forgiveness under God's perfect system of justice.

That's why it was necessary for Christ to become a man, as a sinless man would owe nothing to the devil.

Over Christ, Satan had no power or authority at all.

Jesus permitted Satan and his minions to unjustly put him to death, and once that was done, Satan was legally judged, and stripped of all that he had legally but illicitly gained from Adam's sin.

Jesus then gave mankind its' freedom.

And now that man was free to repent, God was willing to forgive, just as he always had been.

And since Jesus is the one who did the "heavy lifting" by redeeming us, Jesus is the one we need to ask, in faith, for forgiveness, usually through baptism into his church.

It was our first parents who made the bad decision that negatively affected ever human who will ever be born, and it caused God a whole bunch of trouble on our behalf, too.

It's not dumb. It's just complicated, and a bit peculiar. But that's just the way it is.

I can back all this up with scripture if necessary, but it would make for an extremely big posting.

Good question. I think this is one that trips a lot of people up.

Personally, I have begun to look at sin in a new way, but I won't go in to all of that right now (it's a little involved).

To answer the question though: God did not create us as sinners.

According to the Bible, God created us perfect in his image. However, he gave us the ability to choose. Free-will. And Adam and Eve chose to eat of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, which tainted humanity with sin from then on.

The point then is not to constantly beg for forgiveness every time we do something that seems sinful. The point is to acknowledge that we have been tainted by sin, just as everyone has, and that without the removal of that taint, we cannot fellowship with God or be close to him.

God gave us a way to remove the taint through the sacrifice of his son. All we need to do then is to recognize the separating effect of the taint, and then accept that Jesus died to remove that separation, and that through him, we can now fellowship with God.

There is no barrier any longer, the only thing that will keep us from fellowshipping closely with him now is our own habits, programming, thoughts, beliefs. In other words, once we accept the sacrifice of Jesus as our connection to God, the only thing that can possibly hold us back is ourselves.

Hey thats a great question and I hope I can shed some light briefly.

God is a perfect, Holy and Just God. He actually originally created us perfect and holy, and gave us free will to love him. WE made the choice to bring sin into the world, not God. Read Genesis in the Bible to fully understand that.

The Bible says that if you break one of God's laws, you are guilty of breaking all of them. So in that sense we are all equally guilty of breaking God's holy law, which is His standard for Righteousness and "Goodness".

God cannot forgive us if we apologize to him. Think of a civil court judge doing that. Would he be a perfect judge if he let murderers and thieves and rapists go free just because they apologized? No way, he would be corrupt. The fine must be paid!!

God can't let us go free unless our fine is paid, and we are completely incapable of paying that fine (hence, we are not saved by works or good deeds). So what then?

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."
John 3:16

We are saved because Jesus Christ came and paid that fine for us, by dying and shedding his blood to cover for all the nasty things we have ever done. Then he backed up what he said by raising from the dead 3 days later.

By repenting and surrendering our lives to Christ, we can also pass from Spiritual death into Life like Jesus promised.

Until we trust in Christ, we are not "bad people", we are dead people.

10 out of 10 people die. Don't you want to be sure of what happens after our physical death? The amazing thing is, you CAN be sure of where you go!!

check out www.markcahill.org to make sure of where you are gonna go!!!

Hope this helps a little!
Grace and Peace,
Thomas

It sounds dumb because you don't understand it, which is why you asked your question. God made us in His image. Although He knew that Adam and Eve would turn from Him, He gave us the choice (free will) and he wanted creatures to love Him and adore Him. Thus, we humans continue to be born with free will. The person you put into your scenerio doesn't believe in God/Jesus - so how could that person get into heaven if they don't even believe? The person that sins often and repents isn't doing their best to follow in God's footsteps and should re-evaluate themselves and spend more time in prayer. But, he does believe.

God did not make us sinners. We were not born with sin in our nature. Because He made us with free will, we transgress against His Righteousness as we grow older, which makes us sinners. There is an escape from a life of sin, and that is recorded in the Bible as the plan of Salvation. You see you don't HAVE to be a sinner.

God didn't create us to be sinful. We....actually Adam and Eve Choose to be sinful when they disobey God!!! Which made all of us sinful because Adam and Eve are our ancestor.

If God created another human being other than Adam and Eve....and that human being obey God. Than their next generation won't be sinful .... unless they dated one of Adam and Even generation. That's pretty interesting now that I think about it.

That is one of the reason why we always need to ask God for forgiveness of our sin!!! He had given us everything we could ever possibly ask for and we don't obey him. God is so Great to us and yet we don't seem to see what God has done for all of us. That's what really makes us so sinful.

God Bless!

Because he loves us and if we have excepted his son Jesus Christ as our Savior, then we have these privileges,of being forgiven when we mess up. And as long as we are in the human body we will sin. Our bodies have a mind of their own and want to do what they want,it our sin nature,to disobey. And even the best of Christians still will sin unintentionally. As long as we live for him and do our best,he will forgive us always. But if we don't want to stop sinning and most people don't they know what they do is wrong, but don't care, and don't want to be forgiven, these are the ones that will one day be wishing they had tried harder to please God,and live for the day we will see him in heaven.

It is possible to live righteously see the example of Elijah 2 kings 2:11. But most of us don't have the discipline or spiritual strength to be that good all the time. So occasionally we fail.....this is far different from not making any honest attempt to serve God.
