It could possibly be just mood swings, which is normal. But on the other hand, it could possibly be bipolar disease or perhaps something else.

You could be suffering from bipolar disorder. See if you can schedule an appointment with a psychiatrist. Manic phases generally have to occur at least 4 to 5 periods a year to be classified as bipolar disorder. Do you have periods of time where you are in a rage, something you feel you have no control over? Do you have periods of time when you feel like you're blue or at an all time low? This manic-depressive disorder affects thousands of people and can be controlled with the appropriate medication. See a physican about this and see if they can diagnose your problem. Good luck!

It's really hard to answer your question without the levle of happiness and depression. If the mood swings are severe, you could be manic depressive, or bipolar. Those are both treatable psychological diseases that a psychiatrist can perscribe medication for and a psychologist can provide therapy.
And by the way, they're very common, and commonly under diagnosed.

Nobody's perfect . I wouldn't worry about it unless it's severe depression . If you have high highs and low lows , from moment to moment, then you might want to see a doctor . Ups & downs are common . It's when they get out of hand , then you need to get it under control .

Is the depression like a "dread" of something or does it feel like loneliness? Does it happen like hour to hour or are the intervals weeks or months between?

if this just started happening, its probably just hormones, or mood swings.. but if this has been an on going problem, i would get to a psychiatrist, theres a number of problems that can cause this.
